BULLS
In:Maxi Kleber/D.Exum/Morris(FRP 20)
Out:P.Williams/Craig/(SRP #36)
Bulls shave a few years off Williams' long-term deal, move up in draft
MAVS
In:P.Williams/Craig(TPE)/SRP
Out:Maxi/Morris/Exum
Since Nico took over he has searched for and found young boys who found themselves in complicated situations (Gaffod/PJ/Grimes) who stood out more for their skill set than for performance... I think Williams is a perfect example, who I think has the tools the Mavs need (defense, good size, youth, etc.)

this is the jayjaysee target. I'm not sold on him, but at this price, it would be fine. Probably needs Powell and thus Chicago keeping the high 2nd.

would still be over the hardcap even with powell i think
Kleber + Exum + Morris + Powell = 20.3M
Craig + PWill = 20.8M
need to account for a vet min to get to 14man

Yes the Bulls like the pick. No I don't think the people who just signed Patrick Williams, who they drafted at #4 to a 5 year contract are suddenly having regrets. They have zero need for Exum to even be around, also don't want a 35 year old Morris around to take any minutes from Phillips and Buzelis. DAL has hung onto 33 year old Kleber this long they aren't moving him as an expiring.

You could immediately waive Morris. If the Bulls don't want Exum, it shouldn't be difficult to find a third team to take him on his deal. The Pistons should have some interest. As you note, Kleber is expiring.
I have expirings and a 1st as the very top of Williams market. If the Bulls want to keep him absent an overpay, then he'll likely finish that contract on the Bulls.

Maxi isn’t an expiring.. But he makes a lot less than the Chicago player.
The OP needs some adjusting, and Dallas wouldn’t end up with Craig. Two rest-of-season contracts fi roster two roster spots cheaper than Craig would.
Chicago is trading Patrick to save money, begin the rebuild and get a first. The focus on what Chicago gets in order to do those things is unnecessary.
The team should’ve stayed terrible in 2020 instead of delaying it like they have.. But at some point, even the Wizards accept a true rebuild.
