Phoenix gets picky with Utah

This got kicked around some in the general thread, but I think worth it's own discussion. There are a number of teams who could be partners for PHX here, but the Jazz make the most sense here.
PHX out: 2031 unprotected 1st
PHX in: 2025 1st (worst of CLE/MIN/UTA), 2027 1st (worst of CLE/MIN/LAL/UTA)
Suns get more pick flexibility in their effort to trade for Jimmy.
UTA out: 2025 1st (worst of CLE/MIN/UTA), 2027 1st (worst of CLE/MIN/LAL/UTA)
UTA in: 2031 PHX 1st unprotected
Jazz make the upside play for what are pretty sure to be later 1sts.

How does this help a Butler pursuit? I would think the high upside pick gives you the better chance of unloading Beal, right?

If we're talking *worst of* then I think that needs to be at least 3 of those picks. Three years is a long time in the NBA, but the liklihood is you're talking about trading the Cavs picks in 25 & 27. All of our core 4 are under contract through the 26-27 season.

Unprotected 2031 first is worth much more that 2025 and 2027 CLE's late 1st rounders.

Yeah I wanted this to be a swap at first but Phoenix has maxed every possible swap worth anything already.

Honestly I think the PHX '31 is worth all 3 CLE picks ('25, '27, '29). In an ideal world Suns could trade 2 FRPs to dump Beal and send the 3rd to MIA as part of the Butler package. Unfortunately Beal's NTC makes it impossible to dump him to a tank team that would potentially take picks for future capspace.

I'd be willing to do three picks to get this done.

just don’t see how this does enough to dump Beal, on a team he is worth going to, to make it worth doing.

Really? I’d pass. Who knows what Cleveland looks like in 3-4 years. The new CBA is gonna make any team with 3-4 guys who want max contracts impossible. And if Donovan or a key player had an injury Cleveland could be in the lottery in no time. Unlikely, yes. But that’s the point of owning multiple picks/options.

It would need to be another "worst of" or "second worst of", but yes, I would. Cleveland might have trouble keeping their team together, but no team has a worse long term outlook than Phoenix.

Well done Moneytalks, good example of a realistic trade that considered the timeline and needs of both teams.

We should have a yearly awards thread for this sort of thing.

I've got:
1. Predicted a trade very closely. Maybe "The Moneytalks award" for inspiring this? Or the guy on Reddit who was right about Jokic and Hartenstein being right? Jason Terry for getting an NBA champion tattoo right before the season they won the title?
2. Argued the strongest in a thread for value that turned out to be true (like someone screaming Finney-Smith was not worth a first but only multiple 2nds). Don't have name for this one.
3. Argued the strongest in a thread for value that turned out to be almost 180 degrees wrong. The Jason Kidd award for his 360 degrees comment? Gotta be a better name for this one.
I'm sure there's more ideas. Best insult? Most homer trade proposal?

The 2029 pick was the key. The real question is whether the Jazz actually benefit from this. Instead of 3 players they get one. If that pick in 2031 is a bad pick in the 20s they may actually lose even more value. Meanwhile if anyone of the players drafted turns out to be a late bloomer or a steal, then Ainge gets the worst of another deal.
