Zion to Chicago, Coby to SAS

Post#1 » by jayjaysee » Sat Jan 11, 2025 11:51 pm

Couldn’t decide on the right third team. I don’t think SAS fans like this as much as most of us, so tried to make it better for them.

SAS: Tre Jones, 2025 Charlotte first, 2025 Chicago first
SAS: Jalen Smith and Coby White

SAS upgrade their second unit. Coby is on a nice two year contract, Jalen on a nice 3 year contract. Both young and could be long term pieces around Wemby/Castle. Feels like it is great value to get both for a first and some seconds?

Chicago: Lonzo Ball, Jalen Smith, Coby White, 2025 Portland first, lowering protection on 2025 first, 2027 Chicago first (top 10 protected, turns into a second)
Chicago: Zion Williamson, Daniel Theis

Chicago makes the move to either help them actually contend or start an actual rebuild in 18 months.. I would start Ayo, Zach, Patrick, Zion, Vuc and have Giddey lead the second unit. But ymmv.

NOP: Zion Williamson, Daniel Theis
NOP: Lonzo Ball, Tre Jones, 2025 Chicago first (top 4 protected), 2025 Charlotte first (seconds), 2025 Portland first (most likely seconds), 2027 Chicago first (top 10 protected, 2x)

NOP gets one first that should convey in the early teens or better this year, a future first. And then likely a stack of 2nds but ESPN gets to say they got 4 firsts?

So many Zion trades lately eh? I get it, all the drama considered. But it should be made clear: Pelicans won't sell low on him. It's likely: let him play out the season, return to form, regain value to the Pelicans and around the league. Reassess the situation in the offseason. Or less likely: trade Zion for a very good offer, including good prospects and multiple unprotected 1sts. Again, unlikely. But more likely than David Griffin trading him away for expirings and protected 1sts.

Spurs are never doing this. Take them out of the deal.

I'd rather see San Antonio take a shot at Zion than Chicago.

putting the picks aside because the Bulls have been pounding and compounding their mistakes of trading away 3 of their last 6 FRPs and getting nothing but regrets, 2 for Vucevic one for DeRozan. That means NO WAY

They aren't going double down on the loss risk by giving up an inexpensive starter in White, their young growing backup center that they just signed as a FA and their own UFA that they should resign as a first priority. Not for a guy who takes his time coming back from injury and gets suspended for being a lazy slug. You couldn't push Zion on the Bulls for a collection of their misfits from the past 20 years

Well I am of the opinion that he will never be a winning type player.

Just imagine him eating whataburger, taco palenque, and churros all day and night and weighing 350 lbs.
