Kings trade Fox
Kings receive Zion

Pels trade Zion
Pels receive Fox

Who has to add how many firsts to make the valuation right? This assumes Zion can pass the Kings physical.

Why for Kings:

Zion fits into the open minutes on the Kings front court. With Domas now shooting 42% from 3 he can open up space for Zion. Not to mention few teams will have two defenders strong enough to stop Zion and Domas.

Zion might do better with the fewer distractions in Sacramento.

Why for Pels

Fox balances out their forward heavy line-up with an all star caliber guard. Pels unlikely to get another big man of equal caliber for the oft injured Zion. So they trade for a top level guard instead.

Not sure either team can agree on the picks going which direction so not clear either would do it.

Trades shouldn't be proposed on the logic that one party is stupid. Kings shouldn’t have any interest in this concept at all.

Well given the final parameters are not set yet not sure why you are passing judgement before knowing all the facts.

Kings could get a much return for Fox.

They would want a combination of a couple of rising young players and decent draft picks.

Pels owe more than they'd be (and their fans would be) prepared to pay. I agree, no reason for Sac to consider this.

NOP owes a couple firsts here, which Griffin would never pay.

What would it take to get Herb? Like that target for the Kings. Murray?

You want him on the perimeter? 2.4 apg, hitting on .100 above his career % isn’t convincing…he’s too good in the Jokic role. Nice that he’s a threat but I don’t think he’s becoming a different player.

I'd be inclined to agree, if Zion was healthy and about 25lbs lighter it might be possible as it is I'd think the Pels would have to add a #1 pick.

Zion is in his 6th season since being drafted and has played a total of 191 games (with zero playoff games since he wasn't healthy the 2 times the Pelicans made the playoffs). Betting on Zion seems like a really bad idea unless it's a team at the very end of their competitive window who want one last shot at contending.

I don't mean to fat shame a guy like him as he's not really "fat" but I have to think it's a conditioning problem with him. At 6'6'' 285 officially, I'd want him at 255 max. From what I have researched his contract the next 3 years are not fully guaranteed. He's on a contract that is big but if he was producing it wouldn't be that horrible. $39,446,090, $42,166,510, and $44,886,930 are not terrible for a great player, which is what Zion was supposed to be.

The Pels have an easy out if Zion can't stay healthy and can't get his weight to the targets as none of those 3 years is guaranteed!!

What I don't know is "IF they trade him" does this carry over to the team acquiring him?

As far as I know that's baked into the contract regardless of who has him. Shamit Dua will probably know; I'll ask him.

My offer for Zion is based around Demar/Huerter. We can discuss picks.

I'd take a chance he stays healthy outside NO. If he doesn't at least we didn't destroy our team for him.

Webber was a 24 year old coming off back to back 72 and 61 game seasons where he averaged 22/10/4 with nearly 2 blocks. Playing out of position.

Richmond was 32 and starting to decline physically. Sac finished 27-55 and were going no where with an aging veteran. Also our best season with Mitch was 39 wins. Fox is coming off 48 and 46 wins.

Fox is 27 and entering his prime.

Not counting this year, where Zion has played 8 of 40 games, hes averaging 36 games played a season.

These 2 scenarios wouldn't be at all similar.

Meh.. I wouldn't trade Murray for Herb. Murray is bigger and he's playing fantastic under Doug. Looks like his confidence is back in full swing. The goal is to add a 2nd Murray not swap him for a smaller guy. Right now Murray is playing PF for us, don't think you could ask Herb to do that 30mpg.
