OG to MEM
OG
Sims
for
Smart
Clarke
Konchar
1st 2025
For Memphis, they got a big elite defender they have been looking for. OG would move Edey to the bench and JJJ to play 5 in the starting/clutch line.
For NY, they traded OG for additional depth, playmaking, PNRs.

Re: OG to MEM
If I'm NY I'm asking for Aldama instead of Konchar. As is this trade does nothing for them. At least with Aldama they can go big or small depending on the situation. It adds more shooting. Opens up a Robinson + picks for a lesser forward also.
KAT/Clarke
Aldama/
Hart/
Bridges/Smart
Brunson/McBride
For memphis sounds like GG back soon also. Memphis improves best 5.
JJJ/Edey
GG/LaRavia
OG/Kennard
Bane/Wells
Ja/Pippen Jr
KAT/Clarke
Aldama/

Re: OG to MEM
Grizz would offer 27 1st and Santi possibly as well but we likely would require McBride as well.

Re: OG to MEM
OG is a beast and would help the Grizzlies just like he helps us, but I don't see how this makes NY a better team, or sets them up to become a better team in the future. Just feels like we're downgrading our best wing defender to not really address anything.
With our current roster, we need an 8th man...we have a versatile top 7 when healthy + some solid fringe rotation guys who should be battling to be our 9th man (Payne, Shamet, Achiuwa)...we also need someone better than Sims to step in when Robinson is out (like atm), and if we got the other two done first, a forward with some self-creation for the bench would be nice to have.
This trade does get us that 8th man but Clarke doesn't replace Mitch as a defensive anchor and it's just not worth losing OG for, to us. If our FO can't pull something out of their ass before the playoffs, I'd rather see what they can do in the summer to get that 8th man than for them to blow it up before we've even seen this group in the playoffs.
We need to give our core guys more rest but as we continue getting healthier (knock on wood) and gelling, we should be able to run more blended lineups with just one of towns or brunson on the court (see below), which should help keep the guys fresh more than breaking our most important multi-tool up into multiple lesser parts.
Brunson - McBride* - Hart* - Anunoby* - Robinson
Payne - Shamet* - Bridges* - Achiuwa - Towns
Throw someone like Jae'Sean Tate (please?) in there to push whichever of Shamet or Payne is shooting worse, out of the rotation, and both units should be able to do a lot of good without anyone getting overworked; so Thibs can play the matchups to decide which of OG, Hart, Mikal, McBride, or Robinson to close with around Brunson & Towns.

Re: OG to MEM
This is beyond terrible for NY.
Konchar on his best day is JAG, and those are rare best days at that
Smart's value has been decimated since leaving Bos

I'm a Knick fan that is in favor of breaking up the OG contract into multiple players/assets, but I don't think adding Aldama and another 1st to this trade would make it worth it for NY.
NY has 2 big roster needs (a) rim protection (b) additional shot creation and while depth is also an issue, Aldama and Konchar aren't needle movers.
I do think Clarke is interesting as a bruising PF next to Towns, but both Towns and Smart in the lineup together puts you in a position where there isn't enough floor spacing. If Orlando was willing to flip KCP for Smart, then this trade would become more interesting.
Brandon Clarke, Caldwell Pope, 2025 MEM 1st (likely in the mid 20's), 2027 unprotected MEM 1st. Still feels light for NY. For context, I proposed OG for Malik Monk, Keagan Murray and 2 1sts in another thread.

The Knicks aren't trading OG.

I might be the only Knicks fan who says yes to this deal only if you give us Edey. At that, most others will still say this is beyond terrible value, but I am pretty strung out for a center right now.

To be honest, I am probably the one who hates my offer more than any other Memphis fan. I do think Smart alone is capable of giving us more than OG for 2x less money, except OG’s “big body” defence. Let’s treat this thread as a market test.
And I will pretend that I have missed your request for Edey. There is a good chance he will become a beast.

Pretend what you want, but that original offer is way off base for a player like OG. OG would require an allstar type return. Not a superstar, but like a low-end replacement level all-star return.

I would certainly call that request neither unfair nor unreasonable

considering new york didnt pay an allstar package for him and had to sign him to a much more expensive deal than expected, i dont think he is worth an allstar type return at all. that being said op is still short on value

depends how you evaluate IQ and RJ.
Obviously the contract was a part of in and the CAA connection was significant.
I do think OG becomes a trade asset, but obviously, we would be targeting multiple starting-level guys (think Gafford and PJ Washington plus a pick) or using him as a base for a higher ranking star (OG, Mitch for Butler)

Jaren is a different tier of player than OG. But I get your point.

I highly doubt the Knicks will move OG. Trade as is, is pretty light on value for NY.
