Chi/NO Lavine/Ingram trade

Just looking at the rosters to me it seems like a trade of LaVine to New Orleans and Ingram and Hawkins to Chicago might be a good trade for both teams.

New Orleans would have a good core of Zion /Murray /LaVine /Jones /Murphy /Missi /High draft pick core (would have to move CJ McCollum in another deal). That's a pretty decent core to work with as a head coach.

Chicago would begin to start a rebuild by getting rid of LaVine's contract. They could decide to just let Ingram walk at the end of the year and they would have a young wing in Jordan Hawkins for their rebuild. Others moves with Ball/Vucevic would probably need to follow.

I think something like this might work for both teams. Any thoughts?

They're trading Ingram because they don't want to give him a contract like the one LaVine has.

I don’t think LaVine returns expiring and a prospect.

Id understand Chicago not wanting to pay for the swap, but NOP is owed.

AGreed with jay and jbk. NO wouldn't trade an expiring (who's better than Lavine) and a prospect for Zach

I would say moving on from Lavine for an expiring contract would be acceptable for the Bulls. I don't see NOP wanting to add Lavine's max deal to Zion, CJ and Murray. Basically 4 huge deals and 10 small ones doesn't seem like the formula for anything

I understand NO not wanting to do this, but I think there's been one or two seasons where BI was better than Lavine. This year, Lavine is killing it, and BI is out (and was not playing great)

I see Lavine as a better, more consistent player than BI

I actually really like LaVine in NO. His outside shooting and driving ability is a great match alongside Zion and our guys, not to mention his ability to keep us afloat offensively when Zion is inevitably out. I just don’t know what you do with Murray, Herb, Trey and Zion already at 1-4. Good problem to have no doubt, but you are for sure moving Herb or Trey to the bench and that’s tough.

PS- something more in line with:

Pels receive: LaVine and Lonzo
Bulls receive: BI, CJ and Hawkins

I personally think the Pels give up way too much here, but they get out of luxury tax and cut down their long term money. At least the finances make sense, and that’s big here, sometimes more than basketball. Now I would love to keep Lonzo personally, and Zion loves Lonzo, but doubt that happens.

Remove Hawkins and it's not a bad idea...
Bulls try to get an asset with Ingram bird rights next year.
Pels get an on ball player who is much bigger threat from 3 and fits better, getting off CJ money offsets the extra money.

A Chi/NO trade has to include Lonzo.

Lonzo has to be the only non Chris Paul player that ever wanted out of NO and the fans would gladly take back. Not sure what that is, but that’s a guy that should have played his whole career with Zion. Unfortunately, neither of their bodies would allow that to happen in the best of scenarios.

Man, under different circumstances, Lavine would be an awesome fit with the Pelicans' core. But since even the play-in is out if reach at this point, I can't see them making a Lavine trade this deadline only to worsen their lotto odds while taking on that financial gamble.

Also, Ingram and Lavine both share the same agent. And I think Klutch will make sure a team isn't trading fir BI as just an expiring salary dump in his contract year.
