Philly finds a taker for Paul George

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Wed Jan 15, 2025 12:48 am

Philly trades: PG
Charlotte trades: Bridges/Grant/Caleb/2nd

Philly moves off of PG they admit it was a failed experiment. They get better contracts and both Bridges and Grant expire a year early before the PG contract expires. This is basically find a sucker to take PG trade.

Charlotte gets PG while he's not the same player he once was he does offer veteran experience and is a much better fit with Melo/Miller than Bridges would be. This trade allows Charlotte to make a push for the playoffs for the next few years. Not really a gamble for them they still have all their picks for a future trade down the line.

Who says no?

I’m not sure if Philly can do better than this with the contract, but they shouldn’t do this. They would be all but giving up on the season.

just no reason to move PG where the only value is saving the final year of his contract. Just keep the better player and move him later if you need to. This is of no merit at all.

Philly has major issues moving forward.

Not only is PG declining, but they have a bigger concern with Embiid's health moving forward. They might need to just blow it up.

The sixers have a small chance of making noise in the playoffs the next few seasons. After this trade that no longer exist. Paul is likely negative value to 20-25 teams in the NBA so I have no problem him being valued by outside teams that way, but the sixers are going to have to lie in the bed they made to have any shot.

The problem with that the more PG plays the worst he looks. Also you're forgetting his contract. Who's touching that especially when he's already showing signs of decline?

Are we sure PG is that much better than Bridges moving forward? If the fit wasn't bad in Charlotte I would keep him, but he doesn't fit with our young guys.

Bridges fits next to Embiid imo.

I see LAL as the ideal destination for PG if he gets moved. The key is designing a deal to make it happen.

For LA, sure. But they have nothing to offer Philly.

It would be a 3 or 4 team deal. The biggest thing Philly gets is salary relief and maybe a pick or two. The real question is whether Philly still believes PG is a positive, neutral, or negative asset. I think LAL approaches him as positive, but I have my doubts that he is worth the money.
