NOP - SAC (Ingram for Fox)

Post#1 » by bpcox05 » Wed Jan 15, 2025 5:01 pm

—————————

NOP GETS: De'Aaron Fox
NOP GIVES: Brandon Ingram & 2025 NOP 1st (Top 1 Protected; otherwise, SAC receives 2026 NOP 1st Top 4 Protected and 2028 NOP 1st Top 4 Protected)
WHY FOR NOP? The Pelicans move on from Ingram and open the forward spots up for Jones and Murphy to start long term, and pickup a star PG to carry the offense with Zion.

PG - Fox / Murray / Alvarado
SG - Jones / McCollum / Green / Reeves
SF - Murphy / Hawkins
PF - Zion / Robinson-Earl / Matkovic
C - Missi / Theis

—————————

SAC GETS: Brandon Ingram & 2025 NOP 1st (Top 1 Protected; otherwise, SAC receives 2026 NOP 1st Top 4 Protected and 2028 NOP 1st Top 4 Protected)
SAC GIVES: De'Aaron Fox
WHY FOR SAC? The Kings hand the PG duties over to Monk full time and avoid Fox walking for nothing. In exchange, they add some much needed size/length in the frontcourt while also picking up a likely top pick in the upcoming draft to further add to their talent pool.

PG - Monk / Carter / McLaughlin
SG - Ellis / Huerter/ Jones
SF - Ingram / DeRozan / McDermott
PF - Murray / Lyles / Crowder
C - Sabonis / Len

Is Fox signing an extension? if not seems way too risky for NOP

Without an extension it is an instant no. And even with it I think a prefer Cooper Flagg ping pong balls than four-year $229 million Fox.

edit. Missed the top 1 protection. So maybe depending on how they like the rest of the top 4 guys. Just so hard to work with Fox on that number.

Yeah, Cooper Flagg swings this trade too much in favor of SAC. Had to add the top 1 protected protection.

How lucky would it be if NOP actually landed the #1 pick after doing this trade though? A lineup of Fox-Jones-Murphy-Flagg-Zion would be absolutely insane.

Yeah Fox has to commit, but even with that, I think Zion has to be solved before you trade for an pay a guy like Fox.

No way to do this without knowing where the Pelicans fall. If that pick ends up #1 its a disaster. If it ends up #10 its a disaster.

Half a season left and I would bet the Pelicans could put a run together to pass several teams in the standings. (even as currently constructed if they were healthy)

Are the Pels re-signing BI? If not, why not jump to Fox? Unless they won’t pay him either. At which point what’s the plan…rebuild? Then trade everyone. It’s Sac that’s taking the risk in this trade, because they certainly aren’t paying BI what he wants. So maybe they can get him at a discount (and how happy is he?) or they just traded Fox for a single first round pick and a few months of BI. It’s way riskier for Sac.

What is with the Fox hate with you man????

You keep posting Fox trades that look like homers from the receiving team!

There is no way this kind of thing goes down anyway and if it did, Kings aren’t trading for damaged goods/wants a max deal Ingram.

I could see Trey Murphy, unprotected ‘25 and the other two picks with MAYBE top 3-4 protection all included for Fox and adding some filler. I know NOP won’t do that but I can’t look at all the trades proposed for players if other teams of Fox’s caliber and u destined why we wouldn’t want the same.
