Blazers save money, move into the Clingan era. Hawks try to get a big to work with Young.
Blazers receive expiring Capela and Nance.
Hawks receive Ayton.
Blazers save money moving forward by taking expiring contracts and relieving themselves of the last year of Ayton. Clingan takes over the center spot. Capela/Nance bought out or moved for SRPs.
Hawks take a gamble for next year at a hefty price with Johnson's deal kicking in, but it is a one-year high team salary.
Hawks would have:
Young, Hunter, Risacher, Johnson, Ayton

I don’t know if Atlanta does it if Ayton was an expiring.
Portland has no business adding value, but yeah. Really bad for Atlanta imo.

This puts Atlanta well into the tax, and even quite a bit over the first apron for next year. I doubt they consider it for that alone, but there’s also no incentive paid here for them to add so much future salary.

Capela/Nance help you more than Ayton. So on court its bad. Then financially its really burdensome. Not sure why they want to do this for no incentive or really at all?

POR would love to get rid of Ayton but this is rough for ATL.

If ATL thinks they can get more out of 26yr old Ayton than PHX\POR did, then, by all means go for it. I am ok with this deal.

Much rather just play OO and resign Capela or another center for cheaper next year. Ayton for expirings is not on the table anywhere. Maybe next year a team with some dead money expiring gives up something small for a one year gamble then.

Cant see Ayton pulling expirings.
In fact the only place I could see Ayton work is NO for CJ. Dont really see any other fits that dont saddle PDX with longer term salary (IE CHA, who might offer Green or Grant but PDX wouldnt want those longer deals).

The best value in Ayton could be his deal expiring in 26'.
Just looked at the potential FA, and there are some pretty good names on that list (UFA by age): Coby White, Jaren Jackson Jr, Naz Reid, Collin Sexton, Gafford, PJ Washington, SGA, Mitchell Robinson, Fox, Mo Wagner, Mikael Bridges, Aaron Gordon, Porzingis, Randle, Irving, Middleton, Butler, Harden, Durant - Player Options: Poetl (PO), Reaves (PO), Trae Young (PO), Doncic (PO), Lavine (PO), Beal (I kid), Lillard (PO), Draymond (PO)
