Zero second round picks left.

But he brings the Suns' total of NBA centers to 1 even if barely.

I don't think he's any better than the other two guys PHX has. He can jump tho I suppose

2 2nds. So not a first. So far that's every player who has been traded. Will this have any impact on threads moving forward? Nope, will not.

I'm not sure what this trade accomplished unless there is a deal in the works to move Nurkic.

They need to try literally everything to try to fix their center position because they're 12th in the West because Nurkic and Plumlee are so bad.

I could be wrong, but don't believe i saw anyone thinking Richards was worth a 1st here.

What 2nd is PHX getting back? Is it a fake top 55 protected 2nd?

I definitely saw posts saying a deal would have to be Richards/2nd for a first. And that he wouldn't be traded for just 2nds. Not the consensus among the fanbase the way the Nets guys were, but it definitely came up.

The point is guys like this are never going for firsts, even if they play for our favorite team, no matter how we try to dress it up.

Good to see PHX do something, not sure this was the right move.

Rather than trade for Butler, I wonder if they can now find a deal to move Nurkic + their 2031 1st for a good wing defender.

There is still value to be had in a deal that has Nurkic used to salary match a player and Allen used to match another. Allen and the first is solid value and you could get 2 useful players back--ideally as you state a wing defender but they still need another big as well.

My rule of thumb here is that if a guy isn't a starter on a decent team, he's not returning a 1st in a trade. It's not always right but it's right more often than it's wrong.

this is legitimately great stuff. i'm not convinced Okogie is any worse than our trio of Green/Martin/Jeffries, we didn't even give up one of our good 2nds, and we get distant 2nds for someone who has been downright liability this season and standing in front of Diabate who deserves all the minutes he can get.

Let Jeff Peterson cook.

Richards is a much better center than Plumlee, but it's telling that every year we pick up a D-League center and have to force them into minutes, they aren't discernibly worse than Richards

it's basically 2, we're swapping a 2025 DEN 2nd for a 2026 DEN 2nd, and then get the 2 2031s.

I think it's directly related to the atrocities Mark Williams did to Mason Plumlee in our matchup the other night. 18/13 in one half before Mark ran out of steam
