It’s a fair contract. He has some history that might bring his value down to some teams. At 26, and a player with real NBA skills he certainly has some value. He seems to me like a guy who could break out in the right situation.
His bro got 5 first, so he deserves 2 ( that’s a joke)

I struggle to see him bringing back a first, but I suppose it’s possible.

Hornets will use any permutation of up to 6 tradeable 1st round picks attached to Miles as baseline salary for an upgrade.

They won't downgrade him for picks.

In addition to the 6 firsts (which includes a possible unprotected 2028 Heat 1st post-Butler, plus a 2027 Mavs 1st protected 1-2), Hornets have 16 second round picks.

Think upgrade, not downgrade with that contract being fair and declining cost.

Do you have any favorites to take to Charlotte, with that package? Lauri/Zion..?
..who fits you next to Melo/Miller..?
would you trade Toronto for Barnes for a small overpayment..?

Ok. That makes sense. What are they really looking for? A player in his prime or a guy younger than Miles? Any positional focus.
Not that the Celtics would do it…Miles and how many firsts for Derrick White?
Or is Charlotte more looking for a guy that fits closer to timeline of LaMelo and Miller? I think upgrading to a younger star potential guy is really rare. Teams just don’t trade those guys.

(looking from the outside) I think that third guy, who will complement Miller/Melo who is in the same timeline etc.. has the best chance at the top of this next Draft.. obviously Flagg would be perfect and would place the HORNETS in an incredible position for the future..but even if they are not so lucky and land a little lower,Edgecombe,Tre Johnson,Newell,Bailey etc..they would be very good acquisitions and then go to find a solid veteran to accompany them (by the way, I really like your Miles+ idea for White)
What would you think of Miles+filler (expiring) for Jrue..
Boston gets a younger wing while saving money...the Hornets get a high-level veteran to take the next step

Ive thought Bridges for McCollum + 2nds and that would prompt another move for Pelicans to hypothetically deal Ingram for expirings and a 1st. I think Bridges gets dealt in off-season once its know who the Hornets draft.

Can he effectively defend big wings like LeBron, Kawhi, Durant?

I would like him on the Bulls paired with Patrick Williams on the front line. I also have seen how good Lonzo Ball is now, he's no longer that dead $21M contract, the Bulls should be bringing him back.

The Bulls could trade Coby White and Jevon Carter but that's not enough
So what would be needed would be to find that 3rd team that wants Nikola Vucevic and has the young future assets, maybe a spare pick, that looks good to CHA and swing Vuc there, Bridges to CHI and the future to CHA.

are you sure you wont complain about Bulls not having enough centers left though after said trade?

My personal vision for the team is we land a top 5 pick, sign a splashy FA this summer (Ingram?), then bump Miles to the bench.

If we have the luxury of drafting Flagg, rotation would look like:

PG: Melo / Mann
SG: Miller / Green / NSJ
SF: FA / Miles
PF: Flagg / Grant / Salaun
C: Mark / Diabate

Barnes is definitely ideal. I like Booker right now.

Chicago shouldn’t trade Coby White for Miles Bridges.

But if they did.. I think you can pull off Coby, Carter, Duarte for Bridges and two vet mins.

Dump Craig or Terry as part of trade and run with a 14 man roster. Whether the vet mins are Taj and Curry or a third team is involved. I don’t know. And it might be tight enough that instead of a real vet min, Chicago has to cycle 10 day contract and sneaking the 14th man in in a month to lower the cap just enough.. it works.

Lonzo isn’t hitting his incentives I don’t think..

Have to wait-and-see the hole the 2025 lottery pick fills before we move on Miles. Waiting also benefits our return because his contract turns both shorter and cheaper.

I have him as clear negative value with his game with that contract and all the baggage that comes with him. He's like a bigger name Keldon Johnson only with a ton more risk/aggravation. Just not an in demand player at all I wouldn't think.

The interest and price are totally subject to an answer to the question posed above.

When you say baggage do you mean his off the court issue?

He hasn't really been a problem in the locker room or on the court. His situation off the court came as a surprise because he showed no signs of being that type of person on the court. Could have been a bad decision and he snapped. Not defending him, but when you say baggage it makes it look like he has multiple issues to worry about.

I mean it wasn't just one incident. There have been multiple going back to Michigan State. I hope he's matured and put all that behind him, but they are of a nature where plenty of teams simply wouldn't touch him at all. Much less on that contract to be a negative on the court.
