Lakerss/Blazers I know I know they don't trade

Rui
Vincent
Knecht
for
Grant
Reath
Lakers upgrade Rui to Grant and Reath gives them a different kind of meh backup center to compete with Hayes.
Blazers cut the length of the money committed and see if Knecht can turn into anything. Rui can play. Vincent is just part of the cost considering Grant's contract.

I could see a few of Portland's pieces working for the Lakers, but I'm not sure Grant is the one the Lakers need

The idea is sound.
POR gets off Grant for youth and LAL can use a guy that can shoot and play defense (allegedly).
But blah blah blah.

I’d do it for Portland.

i think OP is closer w/o Knecht. Grant doesn't look good this year/i'd be skeptical Grant can even fetch back expirings at this point

I do this for Portland.
Also, since it was mentioned, I was intensely against Blazers/Lakers trades in the past and I’ve softened my stance, and judging by online reactions (both here and Blazers fan groups on Facebook), it seems that most Blazers fans have softened this stance. I do believe this is situational though. When Blazers had Lillard, Blazers fans were rooting for wins, and most races posted were Lakers trying to take win now players from Portland, which seemed doubly bad to get worse and help Lakers. This became even worse when Lakers fans wanted Lillard, who was obviously a fan favorite, and I do believe the team would have lost a large chunk of fans had the Blazers sent Lillard to the Lakers. Really, any trade that feels like it could lead to a championship for the Lakers feels awful for Blazers fans. I think most view Lakers as further from a ring now than in years past, which further makes it easier to palate Blazers trading a player to the Lakers. So as with this thread, I legit like what it does for Portland while I don’t think it makes Lakers contenders, so I’m on board. But if you propose a trade that only marginally helps the Blazers (like one where the big get is a 2nd rounder for nothing) yet the trade significantly helps the Lakers, I won’t find that trade off worth it.

Pass for POR in that case.

Lakers pass. Grant has been horrendous this year and his contract is abysmal. Rui, for all of his warts, has been a more productive player on a far more reasonable contract.
Lakers aren't willing to part with Knecht unless they get back a much better player than Grant.

LAL pass.
Gabe has recently shown flashes of the player they thought they were getting last summer, and Rui's shooting and chemistry with Lebron is fine. Would love to get upgrades for those guys, but Reath hardly even plays and Grant has been quite bad. Not worth giving up Knecht.
LAL should go after Kessler, Lonzo and Dosunmu.

Thanks everyone. Looks like it tilted too far to Portland.

Probably unrealistic as its 5-for-2 but does getting RWIII involved help the value?
Grant
RWIII
for
Rui
Vincent
DHS
Wood
Knetch
Higher 2025 LAL/LAC SRP
OR
Simons
RWIII
for
Rui
Vincent
DHS
Dalton
Higher 2025 LAC/LAL SRP
Actually think the second trade helps balance LAL more -
G - Anfernee Simons / Austin Reaves / Shake Milton / Bronny James
G - Max Christie / Austin Reaves / Anfernee Simons
F - LeBron James / Dorian Finney-Smith / Cam Reddish
F - Anthony Davis / LeBron James / Cam Reddish
C - Robert Williams III / Anthony Davis / Jaxton Hayes
IMO Simons, Christie, LBJ, AD, RWIII, DFS, Reaves is a pretty legit playoff 7 man rotation (And Cam / Shake / Jaxton can eat about 10-20mpg combined come PO time)

Shift that around some because 3 way trades have more flexibility
To PORT
Rui
Vincent
Knecht
their FRP back
To LAL
Vucevic
J Carter
To CHI
Ayton
Kris Murray
adjust some CHI money going out if need be
PORT gets off Ayton gives up one young guy, get some smaller contracts, their pick back
LAL get a center so AD is a PF for the package they have to trade
Bulls get a younger, more agile center who maybe does better knowing he's not supposed to be the 1,2 option, a young 4

2nd this. Grant is a negative on that deal. Rui still has some value. Swap Knecht for 2nds.

Think it's easier for the Lakers to find Grant minutes. Don't love LeBron strictly defending the 3 more than he currently does.

Rui is a bit of a perplexing player. I think he would struggle with a team like Portland without a clear team structure or talent hierarchy and do better on a team with well defined stars and a limited clear cut role for him. He has talent, I just think it would be poorly utilized by the Blazers in their current state and we would end up giving him away like we did with Norm Powell.

Yeah he's not really being sold as anything other than a minutes eater. The idea for Portland was money and Knecht. Rui is fine. I mean he starts and plays 30 mpg for a winning team so he's a solid rotation guy for all but a handful of teams. But he's mostly needed salary matching than a player Portland should particularly value.
