Nic Claxton for Maxi Kleber, Daniel Gafford, Dwight Powell and 2025 Mavericks First Round Draft Pick
Nets are rebuilding so they take a first round pick and vets that could be flipped in follow-up deals for one of their higher paid, more talented players.
Mavericks add a versatile big that could provide a nice punch to their roster and compliment their line-up well.

How much better is Claxton than Gafford?

On a winning team like Dallas? I have it worth the first. Claxton is effective around stars such as Luka/Kyrie

I would hope he's meaningfully better defensively. If he's regressed this much, then Dallas shouldn't consider this especially considering the loss of Maxi's defense. But if he's still as good as he ever was, just doesn't care on a bad team, then the value is fine.
Then its does Dallas want to invest that much in a part-time center who can play zero minutes with Lively and now have no backup PF at all. IDK.

IDK, I haven't seen much of Gafford, but when I do, he is someone I sorely wish was on my team.
My thing is that if I were building a roster - Jokic struggles against thicker centers. Gafford isn't heavy, but Claxton is shorter and more of an athletic stick.
I can't see myself paying for a Claxton. I would rather pay a smaller price on Sharpe and figure out how to pay him next year instead.
Unless Gafford doesn't block shots anymore, this seems like a pretty bad deal.

Dallas FRP looks like it will be a high one thanks to injuries, suspensions, illness, and bad coaching. I wouldnt give that up for Claxton and lose our only backup 4.

Gafford blocks shots, but chases too many blocks ending up out of position on the glass too much. I have Lively a much much better defender and would expect Claxton to be as well.

I haven't seen him play much this year, but I love Claxton... (his poor performance is probably related to the team's situation...) I consider him an elite defender,...(along with Bam, the best in the changes)..but I think we can't afford it.. I think the Mavs should invest our remaining assets in the best wing possible. ... Claxton seems like an ideal target for the Pistons or the Hawks
