MIN/PHI/WAS shakeup (Is the Randle experiment at this stage yet?)
Wolves trade: Randle, Garza, Ingles
Wolves receive: Oubre, Caleb Martin, Yabusele (~$15M immediate cap relief, major lux tax savings)
Sixers trade: Oubre, Martin, Martin, Yabusele, Gordon, 2027 MIL 2nd, 2029 PHI 2nd
Sixers receive: Randle, Ingles
Wiz trade: nothing
Wiz receive: Gordon, KJ Martin, Garza, 2 2nds
--
Wolves pull the plug on Randle and pull themselves within a couple million of ducking the 2nd apron. Oubre and Martin are on bite sized contracts and can play wing minutes while Yabu can eat a few forward minutes.
Sixers just add talent however they can. they're capped out forever anyway, so his contract situation isn't that much of a deterrent here. Maybe they can make something happen with Maxey/McCain/PG/Randle/Embiid
Washington leverages a TPE to gain 2 2nds from teams that are likely to be in a decline by the time they convey.

This is illegal for sixers, they are sending out 29M and receiving 35M

I harp on teams having 4 or 5 guys they can just waive at any time, but this is really testing that with Washington lol.
But also, that's really bad on court for Minnesota. I can't see them ready to punt to this degree.

why would sixers gut their wing depth for randle. he'd be a bad fit here too. it's not even like he's an ironman either to help with the injury woes if the idea is we have to consolidate some contracts to get a guy to carry the load on O into a playin spot at all costs.

I tinkered with Randle to PHI, but Oubre is really important to what you guys are doing at the moment. Really can't afford to tie up money like that. I agree with you 100% on that portion of it.
The fit in general of Randle would be good, but the only way to obtain him is with Paul George. No matter how bad it is in Minni, even if they COULD aggregate - I don't think many teams would want this PG on his current contract.
If the Wolves want to deal Randle, not sure what sort of a return they would want

I don't see the Wolves dumping Randle and punting the season. My guess is Randle will be available, but only in a deal that makes sense (which this deal definitely does not). I think the absolute minimum requirements for a Randle trade would be the Wolves getting back a rotation caliber big who fits and taking back less that $20M in guaranteed salary for next season (with none of the 2025-26 salary being unwanted/dead money).

I like the outgoing, I don’t love the incoming. But, I think that changing the destination of Oubre to team looking for guard help, and Martin and GY to a team looking for cap relief could be a step towards a better trade. The Wolves primary needs are a starting quality PG, and a rookie scale or value contract backup C with some floor spacing. The Detroit 1st and Utah seconds are assets available in the reimagined trade.

Sixers are out.
Zero interest in Randle.

Randle seems a bad fit and guts the team if they are healthy. And if not, he doesn't matter.

I've thought for a while that Kuz for Randle swap could have some legs, with Randle going to a 3rd team
Minnesota gets a talent downgrade, but a good fit and someone willing to take a smaller role while also saving 40M+ in lux tax payments this year. They then have Kuz on a 2/40M contract for the following two years.
Wiz eat 10M in salary in order to garner the more talented player on an expiring contract, in hopes that they can net a 1st from a contender.
Again, it would depend on the market for Randle (Zero idea)

I don't see Kuzma as a particularly good fit for the Wolves, plus he makes too much to really help Minnesota's financial situation. The Wolves would be better off keeping Randle and seeing if he picks up his player option.

Is he willing to do that? He was given the option to get moved to Dallas last year and he declined it. After the fact he claimed it was because he didn't think they were a championship contender and that only a handful of teams were in his mind. And at the time, Dallas didnt really look like one, but they also were a heck of a lot better team than the one he was one. If he's only willing to potentially take on a lesser role on a clear championship level team vs a good playoff team, it seems like he's just as fine to keep getting his - which is his right.
