thinking ahead to the offseason SAS/UTA

Markkanen is obviously trade restricted this season, but I suppose nothing stops a discussion...

San Antonio trades SAS 2025 1st (#10), 2025 ATL 1st (#18), 2026 better of SAS/ATL 1st, 2026 CHI 1st (top 8 prot till 2027 otherwise 2nd), plus Zach Collins and Harrison Barnes (both 2026 exp)

Utah trades Lauri Markkanen, 2025 CLE 1st (#30)

Utah adds some substantial draft capital for the next couple drafts to finally draft some young talent rather than just drafting their own pick and waiting till CLE and MIN fall off in like 2028 and start conveying better picks. Utah would have picks #3, #10, #16, #18 to play around with this year. I imagine some combo of the latter 3 picks get combined to move up. Barnes and Zach Collins expire in 2026, just like current Jazz vets Clarkson, Collins, Sexton, and the Jazz would have ONLY rookie contracts on the books that summer.

Spurs add a wonderful complementary star to Wemby to make for an extremely difficult frontcourt combo. Castle/Vassell/Johnson/Lauri/Wemby could be quite a dangerous starting 5 next season.

Seems like a bit much for Lauri.

Wemby's 21. If you have 2 good picks in this draft, i would just make them. These are the years you would use to build a long term supporting core for him

The Jazz should have traded Lauri last offseason, now I doubt they'll get the haul the were expecting.
