Nom, Nom, Nom: Embiid. I don’t think he will reach MVP level again, but he has the potential for one healthy season at that level, while most others do not. MVP’s are ultra-valuable - more than a safer player who is only “really good.”

And for the record, I expect Embiid to make both the Top 25 Best Contract list, and the Top 10 Worst Contract list. And depending on how his health goes, voters for either could be right.

Easily Tatum here. That 5 year contract for his 27-31 years where he is likely a top 5 player with salary around 10th in the league. Lower toward the later years.

I'm going to die on the JJ hill. I mean 23yo 2 way player with oodles of potential, already putting up basically 20/10 and has a 5/$150 contract that is $30m every season. It's already looking like an absolute steal.

Its almost as if people factored other things into their valuation beside the raw numbers on a contract. Otherwise lets just get 4 year 2nd round pick contracts and be done with it....

Note: To everyone else, I think there is an argument to be made for Tatum having more value than Giannis or Luka, even if I wouldn't. But obviously there are factors beyond mere contract. Giannis is a 2-way multitime MVP who is better than Tatum at both ends of the court. Still very much in his prime. Luka is one of the most marketable players in the league and plenty of franchises would pay more than his talent warrants to fill their barn and get on TV all the time.

This stuff matters too.

Not to clog the thread but I have Giannis, Tatum, and Luka relatively close in value, but still with a current clear order.

But I have a big drop off after that as we go from the proven star category to the players with potential or a step down in talent/favorable contracts.
