Wow what a unique deal. Potential lottery pick for:

29th-30th this year
And likely two picks in the 20s in 2027 and 2029.

Will be interested in the follow-up, it will determine my opinion on the trade. Could turn out to be a pretty benign trade for Phoenix, especially if they can utilize the assets effectively.

Getting three guaranteed firsts is nothing to sneeze at. Trading an unprotected pick in 2031 isn't great, but you can plan for that at least.

True, most have them moving the '31 for Butler, but obviously they ALSO need to pay to move Beal somewhere. Maybe easier to be able to offer 1 pick to Miami, and 1 or 2 to whoever take Beal.

Its definitely so they can split that pick into multiple trades instead of just one big trade. However, these are pretty low value picks on their own whereas that Suns 2031 was pretty valuable. Will be cool to see what is next.

Jazz- at least a grade of A

Suns- graded on how they use it.

Jimmy Butlers agent- pick a team other than Phoenix

Yeah if Suns had strong moves to follow up then it could be worth it.

Does this help them get Butler?

They are tenth in the Western Conference, which is two games out from the sixth seed and three games out from the fifth seed. Additionally, them being bad this year doesn't really determine the value of the 2031 First Round Draft Pick. Another consideration is that with them being permanently stuck in the Second Apron, they will not be able to trade firsts further than five years out after this season, so they were limited to finding a trade with that asset prior to this Trade Deadline.

Utah likely comes out on top (it really helps them clear up the glut of picks, which is generally difficult to navigate effectively during drafts), but always hard to project out a pick seven years in the future. Pretty excellent asset management from Danny Ainge, solves a lot of headache while improving asset value.

I recall that OKC traded 3 dodgy firsts for pick 11.

This is not dissimilar.

Fine trade for both teams. Jazz go for high variance over 3 picks in the 20's and Suns gain more assets.

easy to laugh at the suns here, but that 1st is 6 years out. They can blow it all up in a year and be a solid team by the time that pick is due.
