Lakers/Suns w/Blazers

Post#1 » by jredsaz » Fri Jan 24, 2025 8:10 pm

Lakers receive Jusef Nurkic
Suns receive Mattesse Thybulle, Duop Reath, Lakers Min
Blazers receive Rui Hachimura, 2026 PHX 1st

This assumes larger trades fall through for PHX and LAL.

Lakers don’t use any draft capital to get a center and maintain same trade assets for the offseason.

Suns add defense and a different kind of big, move on from Nurk.

Blazers churn over noncore pieces of their roster for another first round pick.

Blazers should do that super fast. I don't know how the Lakers feel? It's interesting though. I don't love it for the Suns. Not sure when Thybulle will be able to play and he's a pretty limited guy. I think you can do better with Nurkic/first and if you can't probably shouldn't do anything.

Yes from this Portland fan.

As BC said...YES! However, my initial thought was questioning why Portland was included in this trade.

Honestly, Nurk is a better defender than offensive center. His finishing has been a big problem for the Suns. Also, his lack of athleticism. He is a net average defensively and excellent on the boards.

Yeah, I’m a huge Thybulle guy but I get it. His value is way down.

Only if you don’t ask for Nurkic to do a defensive rotation to the perimeter. He is egregiously bad at that and it upset me all the time as a Blazers fan.

I cut the Blazers and simply take Hachimura and keep the pick, if I'm the Suns.

I like Thybulle a lot but I get that the first is probably an overpay, especially at this point.
