ATL adds CamJ&Claxton

Another CamJ deal.

Atlanta might like a Johnson & Johnson lineup with Claxton in the middle. Plus, dump Boggy. Costs two decent picks.
Brooklyn adds picks (decent ones 14 and 21 right now).

Brooklyn gets Nance, Capela, Bogdanovic, 2021 LAL first (ATL adds top four protection, becomes 2027 lesser of NO/MIL) and 2025 SAC (protected 12/10/2nds).

Atlanta gets CamJ, Claxton and optionally Clowney or other small salary.
Guards. Trae and DDaniels
Wings. Jo&Jo, with Hunter and Ris rotating in.
Inside. Claxton and Okongwu.

Seems like Atlanta roster is solid and Det for next 2.5 years.

Brooklyn rolls into offseason with its own lottery pick (currently 6th but could easily be as high as second) and five likely firsts to round out roster (currently 14, 22, 23, 25, 27). Can move some to move up, for future picks or just load the roster. Plus, over a hundred million in cap space.

I don't really understand why Atlanta would do this. They are better of keeping Capela and the 2025 1st than trading for Claxton who isn't significantly better than OO or Capela. Something for Cam, only, makes some sense. Maybe Hunter and one of the firsts (debate whether it is SAC/LAL).

I think is pretty bad for the Nets.

How much better than Hunter is Cam?

This is very very very bad for Brooklyn.

Supposedly, brk wants two firsts for Cam but deal hasn’t happened because no one has been willing to give that much. This is two firsts-next year-that are currently 14/21. Not some pick they might get in five years or picks like phx got which are a lock to be at the bottom of the round. Is Claxton a building block? I have him as a middle of the pack center that is reliable but nothing special. Atlanta can get by with him as their fifth starter due to the firepower of Jo/Jo/Trae. For Brooklyn, he will just be a placeholder taking minutes from whoever they draft.
I watched a lot of terrible Rockets basketball in their tank. Washington is doing the tank right this year. Brooklyn should cash in for picks. Suck. Add top five picks in 2025 and 2026. Sell cap space while developing the guys they draft not waste minutes on guys that will be gone when they are ready to start being good again.
As a side note, they should try to get that 2027 swap back. It might really cost them.

Anyway, this is too much value for CJ, so how are you valuing Claxton?
