Blazers/Bulls

Anfernee Simons ($25.9M, $27.7M)

for

Lonzo ($21.3M)
Duarte ($5.9M)
Blazers protected pick returned

Blazers: Move on from Simon’s to create bigger roles for Sharpe/Scoot, get flexibility back by getting their first back even though I don’t really believe it will convey as a 1st. I’d even be fine seeing if Ball signs for a reasonable contract in the offseason to share some PG duties with Scoot. Duarte included for contract purposes, but interchangeable if Bulls prefer to give up another similar contract.

Bulls: Get an upgrade in Simons with pretty minimal assets. Potentially not the best fit next to LaVine, so this trade makes more sense if they are planning to trade him. Simons himself has only 1.5 years left on his contract if the fit doesn’t work.

CHI should do this based on value. I do think Simons could probably get a better return from another team though.

No he can't, and he's a bad fit on the Bulls with Lavine, Coby White, Ayo, and he's also a bad fit if they move them to tank (why pay for a player if you're tanking?). IMO Simons is overpaid by today's standards for the position and his production, it'd take the right team and maybe 2/3 SRPs + filler, or an exchange of misfits.

Definitely overpaid and questionable fit on CHI, but based on value I'd do it. Maybe I'm higher on Simons than I should be.

Fine, if Chi also does White to Orl or somewhere else

But, in general I'm against it since we need to lose and I actually like watching Ball play (one of the few guys right now on our team with any BBall IQ)

Not a great fit, but interesting concept.

Ironically, I would probably prefer to see Simons paired with Ball to balance the scoring/passing/defense needs.

Why do the Bulls want to play Simons next to Lavine? Both need the ball in their hands because they want to take shots but neither is any kind of point guard. You don;t get the pick back by forcing the Bulls into needing to make another trade

Ball expires to free up cap space for the Bulls just like he does for the Blazers

PORT put themselves in the roster squeeze all by themselves, CHI isn't going to bail them out any more than Laker fans think somebody should come to their rescue
