Edits: definitely pressed submit too early?

Dallas: Klay, Maxi, 2025 Philly 2nd
Dallas: John Collins

Desperate times.

LAL: Vincent, JHS, Wood, 2025 LAL 2nd
LAL: Klay

Free upgrade for taking on the extra season.

Utah: Collins
Utah: Vincent, Maxi, Philly 2nd

Trim a bit of future salary and get an early 2nd

Toronto: top 55 protected 2nd
Toronto: Wood, JHS and the LAL 2nd

Not terrible? Buy out Temple

Dallas needs to add value here, I don't really see the (any?) incentive for Utah.

How much value?

Saving 4 million and a top 40ish 2nd is not a lot of value, but it is something.. Dallas has another 2nd?

Agreed. I'd much rather keep Collins than to do this.

What assumptions are you making regarding that savings?

Collins opting in is the only assumption I was making. Is he expected to opt out?

I was getting Thompson and Vincent mixed up as far as destinations go. Sadly, Vincent provides even less than Thompson on the court, so that 2nd should probably be a late first, which I have to assume Dallas would balk at.

Yeah, I’m not sure Utah really cares about the on court production? If they are trying next season - they can combine expirings and find a partner for Lauri. If they are tanking, they save some money here.. I did not factor Vincent as anything other than salary..

If Dallas had a late first, they might not balk? But given where this season is, the first shouldn’t be involved.

Maybe you see if Ainge accepts it with top 20 protection, Philly 2nd if not conveyed? Dallas is two games out of that pick conveying so not impossible. But Dallas keeps it if it ends up having real value?

Not sure how to feel about that..

Make it lotto protected and I'm in for that potential upside.

Yeah, I understand it being a one year shot and wanting it lower. But Utah isn’t even taking on extra money here so not sure they deserve that upside?

Maybe Dallas is desperate enough for that. But I’m not?

Dallas easily fights their way in play in, just to lose to OKC… and Collins just isn’t worth pick 15-16 to me.

I get it. I know that it's already a cold day in hell for you to even have Collins going to Dallas. Frankly, I'd prefer to keep him in Utah, but the writing is clearly on the wall that he's likely on the move and I'm resigned to it.
