Memphis trade: aldama
Dallas trade: Exum, Morris, 2025 top 4 protected 1st
Why for Memphis: get a first for a pending free agent whom they may not want to outbid other teams for to come off their bench
Why for Dallas: add needed front court depth

Re: Memphis - Dallas
I think we would need to send a handful of 2nds to balance the value here. Or maybe LaRavia...but losing two forwards is likely too much. Maybe just a 1st round swap instead of the 1st?
Aldama is a curious possible sell with our depth. He is having a great season and we likely want to keep him and resign him. But we have players that can easier step into his role that might have higher long term upside and may not want the future money on our cap if his contract comes in too high in rfa. I think we will listen to the market and if we get a offer we like we would move him, but if it just a late 1st offered we likely hold.

I'd love to make it Maxi for Aladama to duck tax, I think the 1st is enough value for that.
Maxi/Powell/1st for Aladama/Konchar
Powell + 2 2nds (1 from DAL 1 from MEM) to a team to dump.
Mem turn Konchar into larger expiring next year.

Grizz won’t be selling Santi for spare parts. If he is moved it will be for something bigger.

yeah I mean psman2 and Khalil make good points, but the basic idea is good. It addresses an immediate need, but as long as Vegas will pay, it can be a longterm answer as well. Probably can't pay Grimes too though so Dallas should look to trade him for a 2nd or two as a follow up to this.

Yeah, if Memphis adds the seconds to “Toronto/Washington” in order to make Maxi the salary so Dallas gets under the tax.. Dallas should do this? Maybe Dallas even adds the later 2nd if needed..
With the plan of trading Gafford in the offseason? And trading Grimes before he hits free agency?
I’d rather look for cheaper options since Lively/PJ are the starters and the team should be happy with them.

If Memphis wants to trade Aldama (which is a big if), they would rather send him to Detroit or the other eastern team.

The pending FA is why Dallas shouldnt give up a first for this. You cant keep sacrificing firsts over and over. Not a recipe of team building success

He's an RFA. And hardly any teams have cap space. I agree there is some risk, but this feels like one of the safer free agents to trade for.
My bigger concern is the team can't really pay him and Grimes, not realistically. So you have to factor Grimes into the trade cost, or plan on dealing Grimes now, but that further weakens Dallas.
I also think PJ can play enough 3 and Kidd would try Aldama enough at the 5 that I'm not super worried about Lively/Washington keeping him off the court, but jay isn't wrong to at least be concerned.
I probably just like this specific player too much.

I think the fact that we don't have a pick in 27 and 29 and don't control it in 28 and 30 is just not comfortable with trading yet another one. Especially one that looks like ti would be decent given this year's record/health in a supposedly loaded draft.
