Lakers-Jazz-Heat :: Butler, Reaves, Kessler

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Mon Jan 27, 2025 6:32 am

Lakers get Butler, Kessler, Burks
Lakers give Reaves, Rui, Vincent, Vando, JHS, LAL29FRP

Jazz get Vando, JHS, LAL29FRP
Jazz give Kessler, Eubanks

Miami get Reaves, Rui, Vincent, Eubanks
Miami give Butler, Burks

Lakers become more defense focused
Christie, Knecht, Butler, LeBron, Davis -- Burks, DFS, Wood, Kessler

Jazz get an unprotected FRP from Lakers, they were keen on JHS at the draft too and Vando had a good experience in Utah.

Miami get Reaves and save $6m, they take on 2 year deals in Rui, Vincent and Eubanks. The Reaves salary will also be done in 2 years with $20m caphold expected that should enable Miami to add a max deal to Herro, Reaves, JJJ, Bam, Ware, Pelle

I'm not interested in this. If the 2027 pick is unprotected as well, then it is fine.

Also JHS is immaterial to any deal. He has barely played and his rookie option wasn't picked up. If a team wants him they'll be able to sign him in the summer.

Don’t understand the desire to strip depth like that for LA. 7 years ago, all day.

If Utah would accept a deal for Kessler for the 29 1st - and even if removing protections on 27 - they should quickly do that and either maintain what would be great depth and then consider/look to consolidate that depth into talent.

I think ima have to pass

Butler has declined on both ends and gets 5.2 of his 17 ppg from the ft line...

Who is going to attack the basket easily here? Butler gets a lot from pump fakes, but smarter teams should bite less come playoff time

Reaves is our downhill guy

I see Utah wanting more than unprotecting 27 and a 29 unprotected 1st

If they are willing to do that, then just send them one of Hayes/Cam/Wood/Milton and the draft capital and just get that 3rd creator

Its a lot easier and more realistic, I dont see us moving AR unless a young star was available or KD or Curry are available

Would you value Reaves?

just keep Jimmy if this is the offer
he's getting some rest now and will lock in after deadline when there is really no point in disengaging anymore

I think Miami will have better offers than this, although I think Reaves is a very skilled player. Still, it would be hard to get excited over such a deal.

I don't know, I don't hate this as much as my fellow Heat fans seem to. I didn't love it, but I might be higher on Reaves than they are though. Does feel like a lot of irrelevant salary, though.

I would, but for where the Jazz are now, I value picks more.

Uhm what?

I wouldn't move Reaves for Butler

Jimmy gets hurt a lot, will want 50m (vs Revaes at 12-13m), Reaves is a better scorer at this point its looking like, and Jimmy will continue to decline/plateau here

What better offer are you getting?

Uhm, what? Regular season doesn't define Jimmy and everyone knows that. He's playing like ass intentionally.

I wouldn't blame you or Lakers fans for passing on Butler. I don't think that makes any sense for the Lakers.

Reaves is a nice player, but Rui, Vincent, and Eubanks are meh, although Miami's FO might like the idea of Gabe Vincent coming back.

I'd prefer (and I think Miami would as well) a trade where Miami gets a proven veteran PF, possibly center, (Julius Randle, John Collins, Tobias Harris, Bobby Portis, N Vucevic, Brook Lopez), a SF/wing (Kyle Kuzma, Khris Middleton, Bruce Brown, M Porter Jr, Wiggins, Brandon Ingram, DeRozan, Harrison Barnes) and an upgrade/better fit over Rozier (Collin Sexton, Marcus Smart, Malik Beasley, Tim Hardaway Jr, GP II, CJ McCollum) is what Miami will want back.

The possible iterations depend on the teams involved, but all the guys I named above are available.

Not like he was good at the end of the boston miami series, or the Den series and not even mentioning the fact he was injured all of last playoffs

Miami has quite a bit of young talent with Ware, Jovic, Jaquez, Larsson, and Herro. The level of optimism depends on which Heat fan you ask. In any case, Riley doesn't have a history of trying to stockpile draft picks to rebuild; he has an extensive track record of taking veterans and squeezing the best out of them for whatever remains of their careers.

We can disagree on value without accusing others of being homers.

Oh, I'm not arguing value. Reaves is more valuable. I'm arguing who the better player is and that's clearly Jimmy.

Edit: If I were to claim Jimmy were more valuable, that would be me being a homer. I'm not arguing that though
