Magic/Raps trade for Quickley
Orlando gets Immanuel Quickley
Raptors get Jonathan Isaac, Gary Harris, magic’s 2025 1st, top 5 protected
Why for magic? The magic can’t score. They need scoring and they wanted to sign Quick last summer. Quick has had to sit most of the year with injuries but he’s only 25. This could be a home run for the magic.
Why for raptors? Raptors get another 2025 first round pick for their rebuild. Shead and Davion have good chemistry with Scottie Barnes and the raps have shown that they can afford to move on from quickly by winning 5 of their last 6 games.

Re: Magic/Raps trade for Quickley
IQ is a very good player. I see why Orlando would want him, but Toronto cannot give up on him so quickly. Also Isaac is a DOPY level player who has been largely healthy going on two seasons now. I see why Toronto would want him, but Orlando cannot trade him after having been patient this long.

IQ is not worth this until he shows how effective he is when healthy, which sadly might not be until next year/after TDL

yea orlando probably prefers to match w/ anthony/harris/howard etc, but it really should be KCP who would be too expensive to come off the bench if they trade for a new starting guard next to Suggs

Re: Magic/Raps trade for Quickley
Quickley is quickly becoming a bad contract (if not already).
Orlando does not need any more injury prone players or invest in any more reclamation projects.

He averaged over 72 gp/year past 4 years prior to this one. Bit too early to call him injury prone imo

Can probably get the same production from Simons for less cost.

I think IQ is overpaid, but he's a much better PG than Simons and Simons is overpaid as well.

Have to disagree. A mid first seems about right. The fit in Orlando is also great.
Good trade, but would prefer Anthony and filler salary instead of Isaac though.

This actually seems really good. Not sure if either fanbase would be happy with it for the reasons that Chuck mentioned, but the value is there

Re: Magic/Raps trade for Quickley
Calling IQ injury prone when Isaac is in the deal is crazy to me. IQ has been good in Toronto look at the numbers 18/4/7 with good percentages. I get why Toronto would want to pair Isaac next to Barnes and RJ but one more setback and he's got to be considered one of the worst contracts going forward.Magic_Johnny12 wrote:Quickley is quickly becoming a bad contract (if not already).

Most of Isaac’s contract is un-guaranteed and he has an exhibit 3 clause in his contract that protects the team against another injury on his surgically repaired knee.

Re: Magic/Raps trade for Quickley
I like it...I'd do it as is and hope ORL can trim some fat this summer as some of their bench guys are making too much to back up what is becoming a very expensive starting group.
ORL has trouble with depth with Moe Wagner out for the year. Could it be expanded (and upgraded for TOR, in my opinion)...
ORL sends: Isaac, Anthony Black, Cole Anthony, ORL 25 frp
TOR sends: IQ, Kelly Olynyk
why for TOR: Black is a fantastic, oversized 2-way prospect and, already, an elite defender. Black & Isaac give a whole new defensive identity overnight, combining with Barnes, in particular, makes for a tough night. Cole Anthony fills in as a bench combo guard who can score in bunches and fears no big moments. One of the best teammates in the league - always honest and supportive of others...he's only got one more guaranteed year at a reasonable $13m. TOR also takes note that Isaac's $25m this year plummets to $15m per for the duration, much of it not guaranteed in the event of extended injury missed time.
why for ORL: They plug obvious holes and re-think their rotation a bit. Paolo & Franz will still be the primary playmakers and offensive engine, but having another ball handler that can also D up and shoot from range would make them so much more effective. I believe IQ may not live up to his big raise, but he'll be a rock-solid 2-way player for many years and would fit nicely into ORL's frenetic defense. Moe Wagner was ORL's best offensive player off of the bench but he's out for up to a calendar year from now...Olynyk is a great substitute as he is a better shooter and passer than Moe. Moe's scoring was largely inside, with great hands and able to finish PnR...definitely not the same player, but able to produce similar results and maybe even get others in the second unit more involved. They don't want to give up Black, but with IQ coming in and KCP still commanding big minutes, AB could be the odd man out. His value is far more than Olynyk's, so ORL shifts Cole Anthony's guaranteed year of salary in for Harris' expiring in the OP. ORL's first step in scrambling to keep their exploding payroll under control.

This iteration I could live with as a Raptors fan. Toronto gets a guard back with upside Anthony Black isn't a traditional point guard but he's good enough to handle the job with Mitchell and Shed for now. Only thing that scares me about him is he's still not a good 3 point shooter. He's adequate but he needs to work on his shot and free throw percentages.

Re: Magic/Raps trade for Quickley
I'd be pissed it IQ ended up in Orlando even after Toronto got him to sign a new contract. Quickley - Suggs - Franz - Paolo - Goga/WCJ would just be beastly.

I can't even follow your logic..."throw Black in"? You think Isaac, Cole and a late frp gets you Quickley?

Black, was included so that it didn't take 2 frps...and, I question how many would throw a frp at ORL for Black today. Betting the general public doesn't see it the way you do...if anything, maybe goes the other way.

not surprised at all for you all magic players hold little value and you love small guards that are overpaid
