Lakers-Jazz-Bulls

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Mon Jan 27, 2025 9:33 pm

Lakers get Kessler, Lonzo
Lakers give Rui, Knecht, JHS, LAL29FRP(1-4)

Jazz get Knecht, LAL29FRP(1-4)
Jazz give Kessler, 2xSRPs

Bulls get Rui, JHS, 2xSRPs
Bulls give Lonzo

Lakers look like a top 3 defense and get more playmaking.
Lonzo, Reaves, LeBron, Davis, Kessler-- Vincent, Christie, DFS, Vando, Wood

Jazz get Knecht and an FRP for Kessler

Bulls get a scoring wing help around the right timeline for their restructure and they get some 2nds.

I couldn't work out if Jazz should get Knecht or whether Jazz prefer JHS and the POR FRP

I don't think a team would target both Rui and Knecht. Probably simpler just to cut Chicago out. I think Knecht and an uprotected LA 1st post Lebron is an overpay, but I know Ainge is putting that word out and it carries weight with posters here so I'm guessing even this won't be seen as enough.

I doubt the Laker are willing to gve up a First for less than half a season of Lonzo Ball. I doubt they think Kessler is enough to help them get through the playoffs.

The Jazz aren't falling for thr PORT pick mirage, it's two 2029 2nds.

The Bulls are good getting Rui, Lonzo is their best PG right now, they step down to White and Dosunmu who they've suffered for wins with for 3 years while Lonzo was out. Knecht is like getting a FRP in last year's draft, if they still have Lavine and White, THT then he won;t play very much.

The Bulls don't really need or want to move Ball, he could actually be part of the future. Lavine and Vucevic are the primary guys they want and need to move. This trade isn't part of their agenda.

Yeah I am more keeping it unprotected to appease posters so that it's not denied out of hand. :)

I think you're right about Knecht and Rui.

Perhaps I'll change OP to original concept.

Lakers get Ball+Kessler
Jazz get Knecht+LAL29FRP(1-4)
Bulls get Rui+JHS+SRPs(via Jazz)

Jazz aren’t trading Kessler for one first round draft pick. They would want two at a minimum. If they only get one they would be lucky just to replace Kessler. Why trade known player for just the chance of replacing him? Makes no sense.

David Locke shot down any interest the Jazz might have had in Knecht a couple of weeks ago. This proposal doesn't begin to move the needle for Utah.

I'm going to keep posting this Stein quote from today...

"(O)ft-suggested Lakers target Walter Kessler of the Utah Jazz is believed to as close to unavailable as it gets with less than 10 days to go before the trade deadline..."
