Combining Every Kings Rumor into 1

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Wed Jan 29, 2025 4:16 am

Everyone knows the talk. Word from lots of people lately have been we could see a 3-4-5 team trade coming up. So let's combine all the Kings rumors together to make it happen.

Kings out: Fox, Huerter, Lyles, Len
Kings in: Castle, Cam Johnson, John Collins

Fox won't sign an extension. We reportedly have wanted Cam + Collins, get both + a PGOTF in Castle. Organize the roster as you see fit -
Monk - Demar - Cam - Keegan - Sabonis
Castle - Carter - Keon - Collins

Spurs out: Castle, Collins, Jones, 2 1st round picks (discuss which you think are fair)
Spurs in: Fox, Len

Spurs keep Vassell, Sochan, Keldon. But ultimately the cost is Castle + 2 1sts. They are ready to compete immediately.
Fox - Vassell - Barnes - Sochan - Wemby
CP3 - Keldon - Sochan - Len

Utah out: Collins, Eubanks
Utah in: Zach Collins, Kevin Huerter, a 1st from Spurs

Why for Utah? They swap Collins for 2 other guys who are expiring next year. They get a 1st to make it happen.

Nets Out: Cam Johnson
Nets in: Tre Jones, Lyles, Eubanks, 1st from Spurs

Nets get the pick they want for Cam Johnson, and take on all expirings for next year. Clear up a ton of cash while getting the pick.

Is it way too big? Probably. But I didn't think we were trading Fox this morning, so let me enjoy my pain a little lol.

I concur that the Spurs are ready to compete and should pay up for Fox. I disagree that it will cost this much. Houston could probably exert enough negotiating pressure to make the Spurs uncomfortable, but I still think they just increase their pick package and withhold Castle from any deal.

Then again, every time I say this my confidence declines. Very good players tend to return very good packages, often surprising us given their contract situation or limitations as a player. San Antonio -- or somebody else -- may go higher than any of us are imagining.

But if you ask me what they should do, it is not trade young contributors plus draft assets for Fox. The goal in acquiring Fox is, as you alluded, to get good right away. Castle is a significant sacrifice from the roster they'd be trying to assemble for now and later. If you can get to Sacramento's price with picks alone, you do that instead.

I didnt specify which 1st? I said discuss what we think is fair. Nets can do better than pure expirings + Atlanta 1st?
