TOR-NOP

“The Toronto Raptors have emerged with interest in Brandon Ingram, reports Marc Stein.” So how about this?

TOR trades: Bruce Brown, Chris Boucher, Ja’Kobe Walter
NOP trades: Brandon Ingram, Antonio Reeves

Why for TOR? Upgrade to BI by trading three bench players.
Why for NOP? Get two expirings and the 19th pick in last year’s draft.

Really hate the BI fit between Barnes and RJ Barrett. But if the rumor is true, this seems like okay value I guess.

Ingram is an expiring already so I can’t see the Pels moving him for a Walter for Reeves swap. I think if that’s the offer, they wait until the summer and see what a S&T might bring.

Yea that framework makes sense, but I'd say the '26 IND 1st instead of Walter. Wonder if Pels could include a 3rd team for Brown/Boucher for more value.

Lol. Toronto aren't getting BI for this, and I don't even like BI.

It's basically the trade for Siakam, who was expiring at the time too. It's a pretty fair deal in terms of no picks.

If there is a deal with Toronto, I think it would be:
Pels In: Brown, Olynyk, lower of TOR/IND ‘26 1st
Raps In: Ingram, Theis

Pels could look to rope in a 3rd team to get value for Brown, but could be tough since most teams chasing playoff spots don’t have $20M in salary to easily match and many are in or right up against the tax.

Maybe the Raptors do not want to pay RJ and trade RJ/Kelly for BI. Williamson get his college teammate. They could also do IQ for BI straight up if they have buyers remorse paying IQ. There are many ways to get a deal done if the teams want to.

Feels like Tor should keep Walter and send the Indy 1st instead, while No keeps Reeves. As is, the current deal ADDS salary to NO, and they’re so close to the tax they need to be cutting.

This trade also brings NO below the tax threshold. NO can easily flip Olynk for PJ Tucker and a future second-round pick.

Makes no sense to give up assets for Ingram when A) he’s a UFA and b) he doesn’t fit their core. Unless Pelicans want Bruce Brown

Pels got a bonus 2nd, but also spent a 2nd shipping Theis to another team.
