WHY FOR CHI? The Bulls lean into their rebuild by moving on from LaVine and also get out from underneath Williams contract (something they are rumored of wanting to do). In exchange they get their protected CHI 1st returned back (which puts them at ease while they tank) and also add Sochan as a young piece to add to their assets. They could also look to potentially flip guys like Barnes, Huerter, Collins, and/or Paul for some minor assets if any competing teams would be interested in acquiring them for a playoff run. This also sets them up to have substantial cap space during the 2026 offseason since Vucevic, Barnes, Huerter, Collins, Ball, Paul, White, Dosonmu & J. Carter could all be off the books.

WHY FOR SAC? LaVine has been excellent on the offensive side of the ball and gives us someone who can help replace Fox as a go-to option . In fact, he might be producing at a higher offensive level than Fox currently as he has a better OVPM and OEPM than him and he's also beating him in PTS per min while also being more efficient than him (he has a higher TS%, 2P%, and 3P%). Johnson & Williams give us much needed size, length, athleticism, defense, and shooting at the wing/forward spot, and Sharpe gives us an upgrade at backup C. We also get two unprotected 1st round picks that have increased lottery odds since we'd be taking the more favorable pick between ATL & SAS, and we also cancel the 2031 Pick Swap in case we need to tear it down later (or if SAS is a perennial contender by then). After this trade, Sabonis would have excellent shooters all around him (Monk, Ellis, LaVine, Johnson, Murray, Williams). Not to mention that Sabonis is basically leading the league in 3P%. Our floor would be incredibly well spaced allowing guys like Monk, LaVine, Sabonis, etc. to attack the paint. The main issue will likely continue to be defense as a team starting Monk, LaVine, and Sabonis is not going to be super effective stopping folks, but we do have a great collection of defenders to round out the rotation in Ellis, Carter, Johnson, Murray, & Williams. And who knows? If Carter develops enough, perhaps he takes over the starting PG role for Monk down the road which would give us an excellent PG/SG defender next to LaVine in the starting unit.

Spurs don't want DDR, and are giving up waaay too much value here.

Yeah, I think there are a lot of problems with this.

Can't see the Spurs giving value for DDR.
Can't see a Lavine/Monk backcourt working with Sabonis as the rim protector.
Can't see the Spurs sending CP to Chicago unless Chicago immediately agrees to buy him out. Can't treat a vet like that.
Can't see the Bulls putting much value on their own pick if they're blowing it up -- that pick will be 2 2nds in any rebuild scenario.

No for the Bulls, even I can't figure out if they get their 2025 pick pro 1-10, 2026,27 1-8.

Here's the measure, they give up 2 starters (Williams went to the bench one game for match ups) and get NONE back
The Giddey Ball pairing at guard has looked very good. Dosunmu has played well Buzellis is not becoming a starter, do you notice in not even invited to the young stars game?

It doesn't justify this trade to say that the Bulls maybe could flip Paul, Barnes, Huerter and Collins, let their teams try to trade them now. Just plain NO

I think people are trying to come uip with complicated schemes rather than working out the main issues. What do the Kings want from the Spurs? What are the Spurs willing to give up? until you figure that out, bringing third and fourth teams doesn't really solve anything.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't move the 25 picks unprotected. The Spurs are 10 and the Hawks are 11 and their best player (Jalen Johnson) is just out for the season, if they suffer one more injury they may free fall. I don't move those picks, If may comes and those picks end up late lottery (10-14) then I'd move them. But not before then, if that's what the Kings are set on, then let's wait it out. Not those 2 picks unprotected, not Castle.

While this entire trade is a mess, and not anything that 95% of Sac fans (that DON’T have a hard on for an overpaid mo defense Lavine and scraps) would ever want, I am truly amused at your pathetic idea that the Spurs somehow are in some sort of drivers seat to dictate what we get in a Fox trade.

Spurs trade Barnes, Collins, Paul, Jones and 4 1sts for Fox

What does it matter if a dozen or two dozen teams are calling if Fox won't re-sign with them? You think anyone is going to give up a haul for a rental? There's maybe 4 teams who can put a realistic offer besides the Spurs: the Rockets, who don't want to make a move or give up their young guys; the Heat who has maybe one bad pick and is notorious for playing hard ball on trades; the Magic who would have a hard time fitting Fox with Paolo and Franz and also in their payroll. I somehow doubt the Kings will get the offer their fans are expecting over here. It happens every year, last year it was Trae and Lauri and no team caved, this year it's Fox but the difference is clock is ticking. And it's not the Spurs who are in a rush.
