POR would have to take this.

Portland agrees. Not sure why they're involved though. Houston doesn't need RWIII as far as I know.

Brutal for Houston, not close in value.

Portland seems to be in here just to steal value

I was actually thrilled with the first two lines, then I saw the third and literally spit out my tea laughing.

I don't like any of this for Houston. If they want Robert WIlliams it would never cost Cam Whitmore, probably just an expiring and any 2nd. If they want Cam Johnson they wouldn't need to use any high upside assets. Nobody else is offering that.

Maybe I cannot speak for all Portland fans but I am pretty happy to welcome RW3 back next year if no one offers much value for him. Low key hoping that is the case TBH.

Obviously pretty awful for Houston. Portland accepts quickly, however!

I think this is the most common view I've seen? Most of them seem to accept he doesn't return much, but they value having him on the roster so they don't want to trade him if they can't add value to get back a good asset in the deal.

I guess my question for you, is Cam Whitmore not enough value? I would think Portland should take that.

Not moving Whitmore for RWilliams.

Expiring's and 2nds is the offer, if not, pass.

I guess I overvalued Williams. Let's replace Whitmore with a filler from Brooklyn?

Houston could probably get Williams for Landale and 2nds.
He would be a third string center.
No need to give up much.

Oh yeah we should and would, just wouldn't expect it to be offered unless Houston/Udoka really was in love with Williams and the market was strong enough that they needed to in order to out bid other teams.

I am expecting offers closer to expiring and a 2nd or two in which case I think its less certain that we would take it. I know its maybe not the most rational approach and can only speak for myself but I love his game that much.

What is "much value"? At the beginning of the season I was hoping we'd get a late 1st for him at the deadline. But he hasn't been healthy or good enough. Right now I'd take expirings and a decent 2nd for him, or expirings and 2 meh seconds.

I get that he's a good locker room guy, but we're going to be close to the tax next year and Ayton is going to be on the team unless he's waived+stretched. And there's always the danger RWIII misses half the season anyway.

I'm not going to make any big decisions based on Ayton, he's a sunk cost that we will just have to let expire or move for equally useless salary.

Williams has also been pretty healthy all season, but I think for pretty obvious reasons the Blazers have been keeping his minutes low, avoiding b2b games and using any excuse to give him the night off.

If we miss out on a pair of seconds to keep him around it wont really keep me up at night. Look at what the Blazers did with our seconds last draft. Maybe the owner has a different opinion because that can be cash in her pockets, so I'm just speaking as a fan who is looking for what risks give us the best chance at eventually being good and I have keeping him as more likely to payoff. 2 seconds is lower risk but also lower reward and there is no reason in my mind to play it that safe, its so easy to acquire second round picks if they are needed and we also have a stock of them in case.

If you want Jabari, I want Scoot.

Whitmore would be plenty of value. Blazers would definitely take that.

It would need to be 3-4 seconds to be considered.

I doubt Portland does that at this time, but I’d be ok with that as the base of a trade if lottery ping pong balls essentially gives us Dylan Harper.

Brooklyn is getting a fair shake on value, though I'm not a big Jabari fan.

I feel like POR accepts the deal even without Whitmore, and HOU is overpaying by about that much.
