Denver/ Atlanta/ Brooklyn 3 team trade

Post#1 » by _NoMas » Thu Jan 30, 2025 11:45 am

Another day another Denver potential trade:

Denver in: De’Andre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Day’Ron Sharpe
Denver out: MPJ, Dario Saric, Julian Strawther

Haws in: MPJ, Nic Claxton, Julian Strawther
Hawks out: Clint Capela, DeAndre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, 2frps

Nets in: Clint Calela, Dario Saric, 2frps
Nets out: Nic Claxton, Day’Ron Sharpe

Why for Denver - Depth. Much needed depth from the bench in Bogdanovic and Sharpe, and Hunter to replace MPJ at the 3.

Why for Atlanta - whilst they give up two solid bench pieces in Bogdanovic and Hunter, they replace the ageing Capela with a younger more athletic centre in Claxton (who can provide that lob threat for Trae) and the shooting/ rebounding of MPJ. 2 frps on top of losing 3 decent players may feel like a lot, so throwing in a good young player in Strawther to sweeten the deal.

Why for the Nets - 2frps and cap space in the summer in the form of Capelas expiring contract.

Who says no? Are the Hawks giving up too much? Are the Nets happy with that return for Claxton? Do Denver prefer the depth or would they rather keep MPJ?

Nets might move either Claxton or Sharpe, probably not both. Clint is a stopgap but we would want to keep at least part of our C rotation.

The Nets can't move off both Sharpe and Claxton. I also agree. Capella is what he is. The promise of Claxton and/or Sharpe makes them more intriguing. Capella does not make sense for a youth movement like the Nets.

Yea i agree, Nets need to keep Sharpe because that's their only 2 centers. Claxton is whats going to get them the 2 picks, and also it depends what protections and who picks they are.

Nets would IRL move Claxton and Sharpe for 2 unprotected firsts like in the OP so incredibly fast. They are worth nowhere near that and they would gladly scoop up that value.

Atlanta of course is never doing this paying 2 firsts and Hunter to get Porter Jr who is a bad fit with Johnson and their recent 1st overall pick. And while Claxton is younger than Capela he's a small upgrade at best and he's expensive now. They've moved to OO and its going well.

Just putrid for Atlanta and all to Brooklyn's benefit.
