POR/BRK/ORL...ORL all-in, but everyone smiles

ORL sends: Anthony Black, Cole Anthony, Moe Wagner, Jett Howard, Gary Harris, ORL 26 frp (top 5), ORL 28 frp (top 8)
ORL gets: Anfernee Simons, Day'Ron Sharpe(expiring), Cam Johnson
Why: Sharpe gives reliable big man depth until end of year, can be re-upped or replaced by FA M. Wagner. Anfernee and Cam boost offense and depth significantly from their respective spots. ORL would have preferred to include a 25 frp, so will likely flip one for a future pick or explore another summer trade, perhaps packaging WCJ with the pick for a future asset or addressing a need.

POR sends: DeAndre Ayton, Anfernee Simons
POR gets: Ben Simmons (expiring), Cole Anthony (one year remaining), Anthony Black, Jett Howard, Gary Harris
why: get off of Ayton's big salary and remove huge distraction from crowded locker room of young C's. Pickup 2 prospects in Black & Howard that complement their young core (moreso than Simons). POR doesn't get draft equity for Simons due to the other gains being significant.

BRK sends: Cam Johnson, Day'Ron Sharpe, Ben Simmons
BRK gets: Moe Wagner (waive), Deandre Ayton (one remaining year), ORL 26 frp (top 5), ORL 28 frp (top 8)
Why: Draft equity, one year trial of Ayton/Claxton combo...two potentially complementary bigs. They're not in that big a rush and have regained control of their draft picks over next several years. They already have 3 frps in '25, so ORL must include future frps rather than their preferred 25 frps.

The Nets are getting the short end here.

Love this for POR but what did BRK ever do to you?

BK wants nothing to do with Ayton and any protections on any picks if this were to go down. I think you need to give them a quality young player if they are going to give this many assets away for next to nothing!!!

Brooklyn would need to Jett & possibly Black as they're giving up the much better assets

Cameron Johnson is 28 and having his best season on a really bad team. I don't think anyone seriously expects his statistical trend to continue on a team with other good players. I'm going to disagree with most other posters and say the only way they extract 2 FRPs from trading him is taking bad salary (Ayton).

Love it for Portland. And if we can’t find any sort of beneficial 2nd trade to get rid of Ben Simmons, I would just waive him rather than have him around the team.

My thoughts exactly. That's why I thought still-young, still-gigantic, still-skilled Ayton might be worth a look. Claxton brings no offense and Ayton, despite his size, isn't much of a defender. I figure a year of looking while collecting one more high draft choice would be a good look. I'm not sure who BRK is in a hurry to sign this summer that makes them take a leap. They have a pile of frps, they could do one more year of sifting through assets before plunging into the trade/FA market...Johnson's a great shooter, especially recently, but so was Schroeder (not saying they're equal, just that Cam isn't that big a get, imo)...Simons is far more important to me for ORL.

SkyBox awesome name by the way. The Nets want to just let Simmons expire. If not, they want an unprotected 1st. They want 1 1st for Sharpe if they give him up (unlikely as he is restricted and they will match him). They are looking for 2 1sts for Cam Johnson. So if they made this deal and 3 or 4 1sts total were not involved (picks or values) it does not make sense for their rebuild. They would rather keep Cam, let Simmons expire, and keep Sharpe at these values. Do you see where they are coming from?

If you had offered two unprotected 1sts and removed Ayton and Sharpe, I can see them thinking about how they can work a deal out. As of now, this is unfair for the value they are giving up in talent, expirings, and what they are receiving is 50 cents on the dollar which they do not have to take at this juncture. They are so far under that cap and are in no rush to trade anyone else at this moment to my knowledge.

I think you're selling the Ayton/Simmons swap as a good think for BRK. It's not. They'd rather just let Simmons expire.

I do think there's something to work with here. I think the pieces you have going out for ORL could return Simons and Cam. Just need to reconfigure.

ORL gives: Cole Anthony, Moe Wagner, Gary Harris, Anthony Black, Jett Howard, picks
ORL gets: Simons, Cam

BRK gives: Cam
BRK gets: Cole Anthony, Anthony Black, picks

POR gives: Simons
POR gets: Wagner, Harris, Howard maybe a pick

I think BRK is going to want the 2 firsts and POR might want a 1st as well. So ORL might have to up to 3 picks vs. the 2 in the OP. Maybe change protections. But I think this could be made to work.

Suggs / Simons
Wagner
Cam / DaSilva
Banchero / Issac
WCJ / Goga

That's a strong 9 man playoff rotation for ORL. If they're willing to pay tax on it, I think it's worth pursuing.

I like the concept. It fits the direction of all 3 teams

As someone who doesn't follow any of the 3 teams, I think values could be balanced a bit more by sending BRK one of the ORL kiddies

You just removed the incentive for Portland to do it so no

There cant be a 'maybe a pick' here.

ORL gives: Cole Anthony, Moe Wagner, Gary Harris, Anthony Black, Jett Howard, 2025 DEN FRP, 2025 ORL FRP, 3 future SRP
ORL gets: Simons, Cam

BRK gives: Cam
BRK gets: Wagner, Anthony Black, higher of 2025 FRP, 3 future SRP

POR gives: Simons
POR gets: Cole, Harris, Howard, lower of 2025 FRP

That type of adjustment would make this a 'go' for Portland. Not sure for BRK, personally I think Black + FRP + SRPs is plenty for Cam but some BRK fans seem to value him much more than that, which I disagree with.

Swapped Cole to BRK w/ Mo as Mo has a TO this summer and Cole is on the hook for another year. Think that helps a bit for BRK.

I believe vet min guys can be absorbed w/o a team sending anything out - so in a side deal send Reath to ORL (IDK if a SRP is warranted here)

The end result for ORL is pretty sexy on paper -

G - Anfernee Simons / Jalen Suggs / Cory Joseph
G - Jalen Suggs / Kentavious Caldwell-Pope / Caleb Houstan
F - Franz Wagner / Cam Johnson / Tristan da Silva
F - Paolo Banchero / Jonathan Isaac / Tristan da Silva
C - Goga Bitazde / Wendell Carter JR / Duop Reath

Thats a wild 9 man rotation.

POR doesn’t really want any of those guys, FRP needed.

As a Blazer fan, the Nets should get Anthony Black in this trade, not us.

what happens when no team offers first at deadline? who takes him as 26 mil exp and what do you take back long term money? no money? 27 mill exp next yr? just let him expire?

So...TWO UNPROTECTED frps for Cam?

I don't see it. I guess we'll see how it shakes out

That is where it would be highly considered. If it was a 2026 unprotected and another protected I can see them doing it.
