Myles Turner worth?

Post#1 » by louc1970 » Thu Jan 30, 2025 5:37 pm

Is Myles Turner worth 1 FRP and expirings or is that too high/low?

Pacers send Turner
Warriors send Payton, Looney, Podz, 25 FRP
Pacers avoid having to pay Turner's next contract.
Warriors get a stretch big.

Tough to say without knowing Myles Turner salary demands, he's said to be asking for a contract above 30/ million, but that could be a flat 31 million or a deal starting at 39 million with max increases, and that would influence his price tag a lot.

Personally, I think that is too much. In this scenario, I think it should be either Podz OR the 25 pick (assuming the contract values work).

Totally agree and Warriors seem pretty intent on keeping Podz.

I mean at that price, Indiana just holds on to him for the rest of the year and sees what the landscape looks like this summer. They won't regret much not getting one mid 1st if he walks.

Podz is also in the trade, though maybe he's not as valued as he once was.

I would just address moving him in the offseason unless the offer was too good to refuse.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

He is, but Indy has no real need of him and if you note the responses before me, they were claiming it to be too much.

I disagree with them on his value, but even if they are correct, Indy should walk away from that "value". Turner is going to have trouble getting a big deal without their help as only Brooklyn has big money and he doesn't make sense for them.

Hornets have a bunch of payroll space if they decline martin/micic/okogie.

but i agree pacers should keep turner for the playoff run.

He's worth more to Indy than they could reasonably expect to get for him, which is high praise because he could probably fetch a pretty decent price on the open market (and FWIW I don't think Podz and a mid 1st would be "too much" for him)

Warrior fans need to read the CBA to see the restrictions that apply to them because they are as far into tax land as they are.

We are currently about $5 million over the tax line

I just don't think Indy would value adding a G for Turner.

I think Ben Sheppard is Indy's 5th G behind Hali/Nembhard/Mathurin/McConnell, plus Indy has 1 or 2 SFs who are fine playing down a position. If I could add either Ben Sheppard or Podz to DET for the same amount of assets, it would be a coin flip

Mathurin, Nesmith, and Sheppard can all play 2 or 3.

Very much This ^. Also I remember a year or two ago Turner saying he wanted to be star and be treated and used like a star. Teams who are asked to commit to a player and price point like that need to have a clear picture of what they are getting into. I really like Turner and can think of at least a dozen teams he makes better for acquiring him. But I also am mindful of the money and role he wants and how that could be an issue for almost all of them.

Yeah, no reasonable value makes sense for the Pacers to hurt their rotation from kow till the PO.

The Wolves would trade Randle and Minott for him. I would rotate Myles, Naz, and Rudy as starters and closers to keep them all happy. Next season I would trade Gobert and pay Myles 33 or 34. I think he and Ant would pair well. The question is does Indy want Randle, and if no who does and what would they give Indy.

I dont understand why IND would trade him. I guess they might not want to pay him. I would look to move off guys like Toppin, McConnell and even Nembhard in order to afford Myles before I would move him but IDK what IND fans think on this.

If he is on the market I think he is worth a pick projected 12-18 + another future well protected FRP. If he wasnt expiring I would have him worth well more than this.

Again, dump that 15M AV Toppin contract and allocate that money to help pay for Turner.

The reports from Woike and Stein today suggest Indy does NOT want to trade him.

With Siakam, there’s absolutely less than no interest in Randle.

And again, there’s no reports that Indy wants to move Myles. The reports today state that Indy likely doesn’t want to move Myles.
