Bamba was starting to play well too, and Eubanks isn't much, if at all, better. Mills is just leftover free agent but has a good attitude that could help the bench and fit in.
Def thought Bones would be packaged with PJ.
At work, but wonder what the cap/LT savings are

Damn, that blew the Fox deal out of the water.

Good deal for LAC. Had hoped they’d get aggressive since some of their guys are playing so well. But getting under the tax is smart.
Utah is a meh. There’s not much value for cap space, so get some while you can.

Don't mind it for Utah, opens up a bit of money next year, grabs a second.
Wonder if PJ will take a buyout here.

Don’t really get it for Utah. I guess it’s fine.
Solid enough for LAC.

Maybe balmers willingness to spend has seen it's limits?

It's less about limits, and more about the fact the new CBA would have a tight chokehold on the team's chances. Basically, he has no issues with spending, but doesn't mean he spends stupidly.
I have little doubt that with the old CBA, George would have been offered the max.
Thank god that addition by subtraction happened tho

PJ has no trade value at all. I'm amazed we even got anyone as playable as Eubanks in return.

This is less of a spending issue and more just moving off of a player who's been a malcontent since the day he arrived. Tucker is pushing 40 and has been unplayable for years now, but still feels entitled to rotation minutes and has thrown tantrums in public about it. Keep in mind, you have to be excruciatingly bad as a veteran player in your late 30s for Ty Lue of all coaches to send you home rather than give you minutes over younger players.
We also needed a backup big and Bamba just wasn't good enough.

Clippers save money and add useful depth
Jazz get cash and a pick to buyout Tucker (should retire) and let Mo be depth for the rest of the season. Nothing exciting, but it makes sense

Ducking tax while adding a TPE, albeit small. Wonder if its the 30 or 31 second.

Some form of get under the tax apron deal was coming by trying to upgrade depth from Clippers. I guess this is best they could do

Getting under the Luxury-Tax at the cost of a single second was a great move by the Los Angeles Clippers, especially while also receiving back some alright depth.
Also think it is good for Utah, cheap pick acquisition. They can easily trade the second for all of the cash back down-the-line.

I would have thought the Clippers could have easily used Tucker + Mann and/or Bones + that 2nd and went and got another good player. The players are irrelevant the Clippers ducked the tux here. Maybe it pays off in the buyout market, or maybe Balmer saves a few bucks for a year?
And I do think it was a solid move btw. Just saying, Balmer of the past goes and gets another contributor for a playoff run.

I agree with this.
This is where we are all starting to see that these franchises who overspent and locked themselves up at the aprons are going to have to make salary dumps simply to operate and not be entirely handcuffed.
It’s going to be interesting the change in the NBA landscape over the next few years where even those franchises in big markets who traditionally got what they wanted are not going to have nearly the leverage with a leveled monetary playing field.
The days of going out and just taking on all those massive contracts of aging stars for a shot at a chip are too going to be fading away and team building and valuing draft picks and locked up young talent (like the NFL does now) are going to become the new mantra.
Top GM’s are going to be the key guys for this.

I'm glad Ainge is making the kind of deals he should have for the last two seasons. Collins and Sexton need to be next.
