Who should gamble on Zion?

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Sat Feb 1, 2025 7:32 pm

Pelicans keep getting bad news it's obvious this core is going nowhere. Zion value is probably as high as it ever will be considering he's in shape and playing right now. Pelicans need to move on.

What team should gamble on him and what does that offer look like?

Would Bulls risk It with Zion? Not sure what a trade would look like or what Bulls want etc, but could see them being Intrigued with the Idea.

Would like to give him a go in Utah.

No idea what an offer should look like at this point.

Rope him into the Clippers trade and send PJ/Collins to New Orleans with a bad 1st?

Would also enjoy seeing him play off Steph in GS.

Makes sense for them. Big market needs a star.

Just not sure they have a roster to contend around him.

Not sure what a trade would look like but they'de keep Zach so Zion/Zach duo along with guards In Giddey/White/Lonzo etc
again not sure who'd Bulls trade for, but Vuc would be part of the deal, maybe Pel get some draft capital as well.

I feel like a team stuck in the middle is the best. Chicago comes to mind but for me they'd strongly want to keep their own picks so if Zion can't stay healthy they're covered in that way as well.

Maybe Utah tries for a Lauri/Zion/Kessler frontcourt and hopes for enough guard help to work. They'd offer Collins and some picks from other teams.

I mean. Should the Kings roll the dice?

Zion for Fox? Who says no? Does a pick or 2 need to move too?

I think NOP can still see the core as Trey, Herb, Zion, Missi and the 2025 first…

this was definitely a lost season but this is a good draft to look for a long term point guard and they’ll have Murray back at some point next season.

I don’t really expect a Zion trade.

But CLT is always the team I pick with Zion threads…

CLT - Charlotte. Their airport. As far as I know, it’s a popular abbreviation for the city.

I have been doing it here for a long (long) time and never been asked it?

Detroit gets Ingram and Zion.
NO gets Ausur, Holland, THarris, THJ, $14 mil tpe, plus picks.
Detroit gears up. Duren/ Zion/ Ingram/ Beasley/ Cade. Ivey back next year.
NO gets forward prospects to replace Zion. Tobias as temporary fillin while they develop. Plus, probably 2029&31 firsts, some seconds, and swaps the next couple of years subject to pick owed to Minnesota. Of course, could get the low value pick back from Minny to create better pick options.

He reportedly wants a big market, which brings the Nets into play.

Though I'm not sure a big market is a good idea for Zion. Any time that he's not on-court and effective the extra media attention is going to be turned against him. Does he really want that?

Bulls could offer Giddy, CWhite, PWill, Port pick for Zion and a small salary.

Ayo/Ball/Carter
Lavine/Ball/THT/Duarte

Dont think Dallas has anything to really offer and the idea of Luka and Zion challenging each other to eating contests vs basketball drills would worry me.

Stylistically, he would fit well in the WIZARDS along with Sarr/Coulibaly??...at the top of the next Draft there are some very promising guards

No.

Less than zero interest in guys that are chronically injured. It kills small market franchises (as we have seen with NOP) because they just tend to not have the horses to weather it.

Heat are what Zion needs (saying this as a Heat hating Knicks fan)
Timberwolves would be really interesting (would Ant abuse him into shape?)
Philly? (He and Embiid could take turns missing games)
Nets (big city, he would be the center of their solar system due to gravity alone)
Suns (speaking of gravity, as long as Isiah Thomas has the owners ear, star chasing will happen)
Numbers don't lie, people who use them do
