NIC CLAXTON has to be the Lakers next move, right?
So Lakers desperately need a defensive C now.
Guys like Valanciunas aren’t good defensively, but Nic Claxton makes the obvious sense. Nets are willing to forego short term winning.
Something like:
Knecht + 1st + Christie + salaries (Gabe/Vando).
For
Nic Claxton + Watford
What permutation makes the most sense?

Can you please flesh this out making sure its CBA compliant and provide reasons for the Nets as well? Otherwise I can just move it to the random thoughts thread.

Done. I think there’s multiple permutations available. Hoping to elicit more feedback and other permutations.

That was one of my first thoughts, after processing this insane blockbuster. LA is gonna hunt for a defensive C.
Personally, I don't like receiving Vincent or Hachimura due to their contracts, Brooklyn is trying to free up as much 2025 capspace as possible. But if we can route them to a 3rd team for an expiring, Knecht would be decent enough return for me. Otherwise, you can have Sharpe and a 2nd for Knecht, although some minor outgoing salary for LAL is needed.

Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Christie and their only available 1st were both traded to Dallas?

Why can't they trade their 2031 1st?

I didn't realize that they traded the 2029 1st. Yeah, they could, but then that would be it and Claxton isn't single handedly saving their defense. There's no one presently on the roster who's a plus defender.

I honestly don’t think they have the pieces that BRK would accept.

They can afford his trade value for sure. Nets haven't wanted to take on bad money though and that's an issue. But he's not worth more than that 31 pick on that contract.

Goga is their answer....ORL desperately needs playmaking and shooting, so would compromise their starting C and hope to work on the C spot in the summer.
ORL sends: Goga, Jett Howard
LAL sends: Reaves, Knecht

So you're thinking Goga is worth Reaves and Knecht? If Orlando is really desperate for playmaking, shouldn't the trade be balanced the other way?
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Re: NIC CLAXTON has to be the Lakers next move, right?
I think Rui+Vincent/Kleber+ '31 FRP for Claxton and a minimum deal works for both parties if the Nets can find someone to take at least one of if the LA players for an expiring. If someone will take both for an expiring, I can see the Nets kicking back the '25 HOU FRP.
Another option could be a variation of the PHX-Utah deal. Something like Sharpe and 2 worst of FRPs for the unprotected '31FRP from LA.

Reaves is worth more than Goga
Definitely not adding knecht in this deal
And we need a lob threat C, so pass on Goga (who is solid)

At one time in their respective careers, yes, but to say there's been some slippage is to be charitable.

As a Cavs fan I would toss in Okoro and Niang to Brooklyn for Rui if the Nets are interested in that. Maybe add a few seconds.

The Nets would be looking for an expiring contract or to shed some money in the deal to stay below the tax. LeVert or Okoro/Niang+Wade are better from the Nets perspective. Supposedly, the Nets have had interest in Wade for a while.
