Utah out: Collins and 2 2nds
Utah in: Rui, Vincent, and 31 top 6 protected 1st

LA out: Rui, Vincent, and 31 1st
LA in: Collins and 2 2nds

Why for Utah: Collins not a long term piece but is having a great season go get value for him

Why for LA: They need a big very badly

Wait…you think Collins is worth a lightly protected FRP?

I don’t think Collins has this value unless you’re really sold on his career season.

Drop the picks and it’d probably be fine. However, this doesn’t really fix the bigs need unless LAL wants to remain undersized.

Now if you keep the first and add Kessler and whatever filler salary to offset it, that could get interesting.

I do love the idea of Collins being paired with Bron/Luka.

When taking back Rui and Kleber and based on his play this year ... I could see it? But probably needs more protection. That said, don't think LAL can aggregate Kleber, anyway.

You don’t have the juice the for Kessler. Collins, yes.

Kessler, Turner, Poeltl should be main targets.

They don’t have enough for Kessler.

Honestly I think the 2nds should just be removed and this should be a lottery protected 1st that turns into a 2nd. That is pretty good return for a guy that was a clear negative on his contract last season but has played so well this year he might be neutral. I don't like the Rui contract, but it is not horrid.

Yeh we'll see this is the NBA  anything can happen and if this Luka trade hasn't convinced you, nothing will.

Danny Ainge is actually intelligent, unlike Nico Harrison.

And this is everyone telling you we are good, no thanks. Keep Collins. Rather roll out a homeless guy from skid row at the 5 than trade for that package

There's obviously an angle to this Dallas snafu that isn't known outside of the people involved.

Anyway, unprotected Laker picks were already less valuable than picks from other teams, and with this trade, they lost even more value. Danny has been asking for a significant overpay for Kessler because he plans on keeping him. He isn't going to suddenly change his mind and take half of the price it would take to make happen.

Kessler to LA was always unlikely, but it's now DOA.

Collins is in the middle of a career year on a bad team. This seems pretty clear of a decent player putting up big numbers on a bad team. The difference isn't a FRP. Right now, Collins probably could fetch an expiring and a heavily protected FRP at best. But you're not slightly "downgrading" and getting a lightly protected FRP. And you're right, Kleber can't be aggregated but he wasn't included in the OP trade.

He was included in the original version. Collins has taken on new responsibilities and that have changed the way he plays, it is not just volume but also high post playmaking. He is a good player - not a 45 percent shooter from 3 good - but very good.

John collins averages more turnovers than assists. He a 6’10 volume scorer that’s heavily overpaid.

This isn't a completely new development. Collins also shot 45.2% from three post-trade deadline last season. Just saying that it's a somewhat larger sample size than only this season.
