Which tax teams are gonna sell?

Post#1 » by The Beam King » Tue Feb 4, 2025 7:12 am

Quite a few tax payers. I see Cleveland and NOP selling off a contract or two to dip below the tax. Suns and twolves have HUGE bills. Maybe they move a contract to save a small fortune.

Which tax paying teams sell? Who do they sell or should the sell and how much will it save them?

Philly sold off somme coin. Really think Minnesota would be wise to sell off a contract or two to save a ton of coin.

Imagine Mavs if they can’t land KD to get under the tax.

Would be shocked if Pels didn’t sell off by tomorrow.

Lakers “poor” governors might surprise you if they can’t find a deal for a big.

Pacers will sell but probably after the season.

Pelicans are a lock to dump a small salary into someone’s MLE. Warriors could dump Payton into a MLE as well if they can’t use him to upgrade roster. Miami might be a player as well

Pels are only ~$800k over now and reportedly have a deal in place to dodge the tax if they don’t trade Ingram.

Still hope they are trying to find another creator.... but the path to ducking tax isn't super simple. They are totally out of 2nds I believe and they are already at 14 so if they move a player they still have to backfill. Again today's trade just weird.

I'm okay with it if they can do it without costing themselves, but the path there isn't simple.

Oh yeah and Gafford got hurt. If he's going to miss any time at all, they probably have to make a move for a big further complicating things lol.

I think Wolves are going to make a move to get out of the 2nd apron.
NAW has been too good, so can't be him that they move.
Interesting idea would be spin Dante for Grimes, Drummond going elsewhere (LA?)
Dante would be an interesting fit with Maxey on a fast paced team.

The deadline sounds crazy right now, but I could definitely see this spilling into the off-season. Disappointing tax teams (Milwaukee, Phoenix, Philly, etc) deciding to cut losses and move stars or very good players.

It doesn’t look like the Mavs are trying to duck the tax to me.
