TOR-LAL

TOR trades: Jakob Poeltl, Garret Temple ($21,587, 519)
LAL trades: Austin Reaves, Gabe Vincent, 2031 1st ($23, 976, 362)
LA gets the best center they could possibly acquire right now for a title shot this year, and Toronto gets quality draft capital and can squeeze out more assets from trading Reaves down the line. Fair trade.
Pick is obviously not unprotected but I'm leaving it open to discussion because I don't know what fair protection would be.

Reaves and Peoltl are same ballpark, 31 1st has no business being here

So reporting says Lakers don't want to deal that pick. Never know how true that is, so if we assume they would this deal would be unwanted Lakers salary plus the pick. Reaves isn't a player the Raptors should be targeting and the Lakers can still use him.
Of course I don't think Poeltl is the right target for a Luka team. You want a premier roll man to provide vertical spacing.

I don’t think Poetl makes sense for LA, they need a rim protector/runner.

Why do people value someone like Poeltl like this?
He is a non-rim running big who provides minor playmaking chops and no spacing vertical or horizontal.
I have Reaves as clearly more valuable.

I have it as Reaves or the pick, but not both.

Echoing all the others. Reaves or the first. Definitely not both.

Yeah same, Reaves or the 1st. Though I'd be more interested in a 3 team deal to see what Reaves could get us.
With Ochai, Dick, Walter, adding Reaves would bloat our SG spot with Ochai the only one who can stretch into guarding 3s.

Poeltl is 11th in the league in roll man possessions and is a very efficient finisher at the rim. He’s no lob threat but he is a very good pnr partner.
If Poeltl isn’t a rim running big then there are only 10 rim running bigs in the league.

I like Poeltl as an option for the Lakers. Reaves is definitely more value than him though to me. Toronto need to add value not the other around.
I'm not sure if they need him though next to Dick Quickley Barrett, though both Quickley and Reaves had success as sixth men.

I think Reaves is worth more than the first, to a point where it is not one or the other, but Reaves+unwanted salary/clear roster spot for a buyout guy, or the first.
And agree with everyone saying Poetl is not the guy the Lakers need. The C they get must be an athletic rim runner.

Pöltl for the Lakers 2031 1st works.

Poeltl isn't even worth Reaves. Absurd overpay. I don't even think Yak is s good fit next to Luka tbh.

Context is rarely accounted for on here.
The Lakers are all-in. They NEED Yak (or the best C they can get).
The Raps don't give a **** about Reaves. Calling up Pelinka and asking the price on Reaves has never ever crossed Masai's mind. hence the Lakers needing to offer additional compensation.

Lakers got a 25 year old star. They have time to figure this out. They don't need Yak, who is nothing special. He doesn't even fit with Luka, who needs a rim roller. Yak is also less valuable than Reaves, regardless of whether Toronto agrees.

Oh. Ok, then. My bad.

Poeltl is 4th all time on FG% and shooting ~73% from within 3 feet. He might not be the right target for other reasons but he's a great roll man.

The Raptors don’t need Reaves when they have Quickley under a long term deal and 2 recent 1st round pick backcourt assets that are developing.
If the Lakers really want Poeltl they’re going to have to overpay for him based on there is nothing Raptors need off of Lakers roster beyond a 1st.

You definitely don't watch Toronto at all.
