What's up with Brogdon?

Post#1 » by Skybox » Tue Feb 4, 2025 10:43 pm

I would've thought a contender would have scooped him up by now, especially as a low-risk expiring deal...is he healthy? is he washed? I've heard (on RealGM, so...) that he's not a great locker room guy-specifically, that he was pretty crappy to Halliburton in IND. Any truth to that?

I always chose to assume that a lot of the missed games in POR and WAS were just "tank-itis"...anybody have any insights as to why he's still rotting in WAS?

His deal is quite large (20+) in a crowded position (combo guard) that is not in demand (Sexton, Simons, etc), his injury history and decline accentuate the issue. Lots of Wizards fans were proposing deals for first round picks or multiple seconds, I think he remains with the Wizards past the trade deadline and then a buyout takes place and he finds his way to a contender.

I think the Rockets are a team to keep an eye on for him

hes been injured I believe.

But yeah on that contract he's not positive value. He makes sense for a team who needs a backup PG who has enough worse expiring salary to match him and give Washington a 2nd for their trouble.

Rockets might be the only team that really fit that.

Buyout is probably correct for him.

I'd probably be willing to eat some modest 2 year salary if it meant getting something worthwhile out of Brogdon's deal.

Brogdon and 2nd(s) for Cole Anthony and one of Orlando's less valuable 1sts? Brogdon for Cole + Jett + 2nds?

He’s on a bad team and hasn’t been durable. I’ve overvalued him last 2 months in a couple of OPs. I don’t think there is much of a market for him. Could get bought out if his agent thinks he isn’t going to get more than full MLE this summer on open market

Re: Indy, Brogdon was not willing or comfortable to recognize that he was clearly behind Haliburton in the pecking order and kept the ball out of Tyrese’s hands when he could. He wasn’t crappy to Tyrese per se, but his locker room leadership came off a bit as phony, especially when he didn’t put the team first as he asked others to do, and tried to okay ahead of Haliburton.

Yeah he seemed like a bit of a phony to me. Kind of a clubhouse lawyer type like they say in baseball.

He has been hurt pretty much all of January. It's hard to shop a guy who isn't on the court.

He just got back and has played 2 games. (The first was bad, the second was good.) The Wizards are 2-0 since his return. If the Wizards are smart, they will move him for anything they can get. He's good when healthy, but obviously his injury history is going to drive down his price.

Yeah, he just hasn't been able to put together a long stretch where he isn't sitting out with injuries and an injured expiring is just throwing away money.

That all adds up...today, he's worth some draft equity, but it's a fine line because tomorrow afternoon, he might be a buyout.
