Am I the only one that thinks the buy out market is going to be full of guys this year?

Maybe I’m way off (I often am), but I have a sense that there is going to be a LOT of solid talent available in the buyout market this season. There are a fair amount of expiring guys that aren’t a trade piece at 20 million plus, but can still fill a lot of holes for playoff or contending teams.
Thoughts about who gets bought out and where they go?

Ben Simmons is a sure thing. I'm 50/50 on Lonzo Ball and Brown. Those guys will be a function of their teams not wanting to take back future money equal to their contracts.
Boucher probably gets traded.
I think the Cavs end up hanging onto LeVert for one more playoff run. He's certainly not getting bought out.

The Lakers are over the first apron, which means they can't sign any buyout player whose pre-buyout salary was larger than the MLE (around $12 million)

This is my thought for the Kings actually.
While it will be difficult to get a deal done for the guys they would like given the TPE sizes they have and proximity to the tax, they certainly can scoop up a quality guy or two off the buyout group and solidify the team and fill the gaps in the front court.
The big hitter teams are almost all over at least the first apron and are going to be unable to get anyone of really good quality/talent.

Just eyeballing around the league, some potential buyout guys:
Malcolm Brogdon (WAS)*
Vasa Micic (CHA)
Ben Simmons (BKN)*
Bojan Bogdanovic (BKN)*
Bruce Brown (TOR)*
Lonzo Ball (CHI)*
PJ Tucker (UTA)
* = not eligible to be signed by teams above the first apron

No idea why the Bulls would buy Lonzo out when he's their best player.

There is massive potential.
Bagley and Brogdon immediately come to mind.
Simmons as people mentioned.
What will be key is guys getting traded and cut.
Craig and Duarte both are guys to look at for sure (from the Bulls trades) and there will be more to come if other players are moved (if GSW cobble pieces for PG, Butler)

I guess if they went total tank? But yeah, feels like he's a guy you have to trade for.

They can get under if they really want to.

Already said it in another trade, but Craig could be a great 9th man for a playoff rotation. And he's a minimum guy too, so anyone can sign him.
I think he'd really improve the Bucks and the Cavs, among others. Will probably play 45mpg for the Knicks once Thibs gets Hart/Bridges/OG injured.

Only reason it would work for the Bulls is if a) they've talked about the offseason and Lonzo's salary expectations are insane AND b) he's willing to give back a lot of money in the buyout, and those two together don't make sense.

There will be buyout guys, always are. But rarely do any of them make any kind of significant impact on their new team and that is unlikely to change this year. But we will definitely have the usual suspects complaining about how unfair it all is to the team that buys them out--completely ignoring that team is choosing to buy them out.

I’d add Marvin Bagley to the list as well.

Ben Simmons I think really could be a game changer. Specifically if he goes to a team like the Mavs that lacks playmakers/passers.
Playing for JKidd could also be good for him.

Lonzo somehow makes it to a buyout, I want the Pistons to treat him like a day one free agent signing. Like if Cades available, I need him to be mysteriously hanging out leading up to the moment Ball clears waivers

Someone smarter than me can weigh in.. But I think Detroit’s cap space is a major tool here right?
Throw all of it and a second year in? Or a second year and a third year player option?

I don’t think Ball should sign a multiyear, I just think they should make sure they get him if he’s somehow a buyout candidate

They would need some inside information to know to do it by tomorrow
