Lakers-Detroit :: Duren's folk

Lakers get Duren

Detroit get Rui+LAL31FRP

Lakers duck the 1st apron and prepare for big buyouts. They also get a starting rim protecting C and roll man.

Detroit decide they prefer a stretch big to give Ausar and Cade more space. Sell on Duren and get an unprotected FRP along with Rui.

I’m relatively confident that Detroit would call more than one team if they were going to trade their starting center

The Pistons should absolutely do this.

Is this sarcasm?

I also dont watch Duren, but doesnt he start for them?

Why would Pistons break things up now when theyre finally playing well

But if we were to deal with them, I wonder if they would rather have Knecht than the 1st

Also would try and keep Rui and just send out Knecht and Cam/salary filler

Then can move Rui (and Gabe if needed) in another deal. Can attach 1st/2nd/swaps

Maxi in another deal with 1st/2nd/swaps

I wouldn’t mind to overpay depending on who the buy target is.

Lakers are going to value Knecht $4m more than Rui.

Plus after this trade the Lakers can have access to the buyout market when you might have Simmons, Brown, Lonzo, DLo, Bojan, Brogdon to add.

No one would rather have Knetch than that 1st.

I'd pass, only because I don't think a Lakers FRP will ever be in the lottery

The value seems fine, but the direction is wrong for the Pistons. They should continue to build on their first promising season in a long time rather than dive back into the lottery for a pick seven drafts away.

Duren is in year 3 and has shown tremendous improvement each year. He turned 21 earlier this basketball season.

Lakers should be looking to use the '31 1st on a long-term piece like Duren. I like this trade overall but don't think Detroit would or should bite.

In what world would Lonzo be a buyout candidate?

Well I don't expect Pistons will wait to draft that player. But Lakers have been in the lottery twice in the 6 seasons LeBron has been there.

I just think Cade, Ivey, Ausar are the locked in Pistons. I don't think they are in on Duren, I expect the fit problems get worse when Ivey returns since he loves the open lane. Seems like the team is set up to highest potential with a stretch C.

I think they'd trade the Lakers pick eventually for a stretch C.

Lonzo is a bench guard making 20 Million which makes salary matching nearly impossible.

Why wouldn't Chicago buy him out?

It's possible. He's helping Bulls win games and they just traded LaVine for scrap pieces. Seems like a tanking year, which would be better without Ball on the team.

As someone who wouldn't trade Reaves for Kessler/Poeltl/Carter, I'd add Knecht for Duren

Him & Myles Turner are the 2 I'd go kind of all in for

Knecht
Rui/Gabe
31 1st
2 swaps
25 2nd

Knecht is going to be an important finisher for the Lakers with LeLuka and he's a cheap deal that gives flexibility.

But sure lakes could add swaps to this deal. I think they'd be aggressive because Duren is young.

Because the Pistons would send a 2nd and a private jet across Lake Michigan for him. Buuuuut if the Bulls would rather NOTHING to a decent asset then by all means, I guess.

It would take Fontecchio to make the salaries work, so Pistons might need to send 2 2nds. But that does clear more off Detroit's books next year.

Absolutely crazy to think Detroit moves Duren for a pick 5+ years away after rebuilding for a decade. Duren is 22 and fits their core. If you include Knecht and the 31 1st I think they still pass
