2025 NBA Draft Night: San Durantonio Spurs

Following along the lines of Nurkic and KD for Jonas, Kuminga, Butler and 2 1sts...

Done via multiple deals on draft night...

Detroit Pistons get:
Grayson Allen
2025 Cavaliers First Round Draft Pick (via Suns)

-Gives: Isaiah Stewart and '25 Raptors 2nd

Why: They gain more veteran guard depth and upgrade picks for their back-up center as Duren grows into a bigger role.

Philadelphia 76ers get:
Devin Vassell
Harrison Barnes
2025 Raptors Second Round Draft Pick (via Pistons)

-Gives: Paul George

Why: They get off of a freshly signed Paul George that could turn out to be a bad contract as part of a rebuild with an Embiid deal likely to follow.

Phoenix Suns get:
Paul George
Jeremy Sochan
Isaiah Stewart
Lower of 2025 Spurs/Hawks First Round Draft Pick
2029 Unprotected Spurs First Round Draft Pick

-Gives: Kevin Durant, Cody Martin and Jeremy Sochan

Why: They take a risk of George meshing with Beal/Booker, but get a young PF, tough center and two picks for the downgrade.

Kevin Durant
Cody Martin

-Gives: Jeremy Sochan, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, Lower of '25 Hawks/Spurs 1st and '29 Spurs 1st

Why: Next year will be Wemby's 3rd season. Adding KD could lead to a championship alongside him and Fox. They also keep the earlier of Hawks/Spurs '25 1st, Castle, etc. while going for it in 2025-26 at that price.

For me, Philly's getting too much for Paul George, with his recent struggles taken into account. Unless Vassell has taken a NOTICEABLE step backwards...

PG is the worst contract in the league, he's not fetching you a good young wing.

I don't think Durant at his age is a player Spurs should be targeting right now (they're not ready). Price is enticing, though.

Terrible trade for the Suns, everyone steals value from them.

Stewart is not more vaulable than Allen, propably the opposite.

Vassell and Barnes are worth much more than George.

Vassell and Sochane are good players, no more, no less, I don't think that you can have Durant for them and some future mid 1st rounders. Switch SAS picks to ATL ones and then the Souns might listen.

We’ve already got Beasley (who I think we’ll re-sign) who has the same role Allen would and is a proven great fit with the team.

Agreed 100%. I don't hate the idea of "going for it" for 2 years and then re-tooling around a Wemby-Fox duo if the price is right, but I think the Suns will get better offers for KD from teams closer to contention.

So the Pistons give up one of the best rim protectors for veteran guard depth that they don't need, for the right to move up 4-5 spots in the draft?

What do you think you're getting for KD assuming Houston isn't interested?

Are Ware or Lively enough of an upgrade over Sochan to give Miami or Dallas the better offer?
