Scenario: Kings and Celtics both fall short of expectations this season. Horford looks washed. Jrue showing signs of aging.
Celtics decide they can’t run it back and have to reshuffle to maximize Tatum’s window. Summer deal…
Sabonis/Monk/DDR for Brown/Jrue
Celtics reload by moving value from a repetitive wing slot to a dominant big man and backfill Brown’s scoring and Jrue’s play making. Kings hope they get a 1A who is playing 1B.

If my Math is correct the Celtics are taking back more salary here 87ish and sending 85.5ish. This would hard cap the Cs at the second Apron.
As is this can’t be done.
The Celtics need a trade that reduces their tax bill.
Also it is unlikely imo that they would trade brown, unless they are both reducing the tax bill and getting quality assets/ players back.

Re: Sac/Celtics
Brown for Sabonis
Or
Jrue for Monk or DDR
One of those at least works under the CBA.
Any thoughts on value?

Absolute no
Kings sending out a player you can build a team on and not getting one in return and a much younger piece for an older piece. And then DDR for no reason

You really think you can “build a team” on Sabonis more than Brown?
I guess “more”, yeah. But the real answer is “not really” for either. An offensive, rebounding big that can be a passing hub provides more than a primetime scorer and defender that has trouble creating for himself, but they both have big flaws and sure look like second pieces to me.

Obviously. Sabonis has been considered a loose mvp candidate for years
Obviously more than an inefficient scoring SF
How good of a team at its peak? Who knows, but it’s not a championship or die directed org

Jrue/Zach/Brown/Murray/X
Carter/Ellis/X(LaRavia?)/X/Val
Obviously needs big men, but there’s something happening. It’s easier to build around than Sabonis/Zach.

Re: Sac/Celtics
I think you can build a team around Sabonis better than Brown but I think there’s a ceiling on that team. And I think Brown’s game fits better in a complimentary role where the offense isn’t going through him.
And therefore I think that swap makes no sense on either side. BOS has a #1 option so why swap for someone whose game fits less as #2? SAC is sub playoff team trying to get back so why downgrade their offensive engine that lifts their floor?

Re: Sac/Celtics
The Celtics have no interest in breaking up the Tatum/Brown duo anytime in the near future. They actually play great together and know when to get out of the others way when they are cooking. If they were to move anyone of consequence it would be Jrue or KP.

I'm not a big advocate but it is a pretty interesting idea, the Brown for Sabonis switch. Not sure I like the rest for SAC, doesn't make sense to get in on a much older guy in Jrue, and don't love that part for Boston either.
I thin Boston's offense would get better actually but Brown's potential on-ball D in the playoffs would be a loss, as well as just team D overall.

Sure, but what can Boston get for those guys that makes them better or even the same? It would almost certainly be a step back.
