Nets/Lakers change selections

Houston FRP25 (currently 25)/Knicks FRP(currently26) + SRP Nets25 (currently 36) for LAKERS 31(unprotected)

The Nets already have a ton of prospects to develop and there won't be enough minutes to go around, so they keep their high lottery pick and trade for an unprotected future Lakers player...when Lebron will be retired (I assume) and Luka might be gone or even past his prime.

Lakers get ammo for different moves..also the fact that for most GMs a pick as far out as the one the Lakers have is worthless, as most will probably be fired before then.. opinions on value and direction..?

This doesn't make sense for LA considering they will be dangling the '31 1st this off-season and the draft happens right at the start of the off-season.

don’t see it for the lakers. I Can’t see a rebuilding team out there that would prefer 3 late picks over an unprotected pick.

GMs works for governors. Think their short live career logic a bit overstated.

That Lakers 31' pick doesnt have value it had before Luka trade. Lakers are now set to be good in 31 even if they suck at roster building.
Also, i don't know why the opinion around league is that Lakers picks will ever be good. They were bad for like 4-5 years in 40 years...
Reporters and talking heads somehow always make a big drama around Lakers picks that are far away, and in reallty they always end being bad. I remember when Lakers started 2-10 and Pelicans had their pick and everyone thought Pels are getting Wemby with LAkers picks since they had a swap.
Ofc they end up above Pelicans, swap doesnt convey and they make WCF.

Suns just traded a distant FRP for 3 FRPs of the quality of the one offered in the OP.

Luka will have 2 options to leave the Lakers before that '31 FRP conveys. Don't see Lakers moving it for anything other than a sure thing rookie contract player that they have RFA rights for.

It's tempting for Brooklyn, but I think the front office will attempt to consolidate and climb this draft, rather than kick it to the distant future.

Dont see why lakers would do it? Really late picks is prdtty much useless for that team. Cant see them pick players that late and probably have to develop them for 3 years to be playable, when they can just use the 31 pick to get immediate upgrade. Now, if utah prefer those 2 picks at draftnight over 31 for kessler, sure, but doubt that

don’t think the Lakers would do this but want to point out that late first round picks are not worthless. Especially with a team like the Lakers, who have an extremely strong track record in drafting in late rounds

If a team doesn't want to draft multiple players in a year and develope them, then stop hoarding picks and asking for more picks for young players.

I get it why, but just build your damn team instead of making your fan base wait 3 years for nothing.

I think the issue here is that all 3 picks have to be consumed this draft, or re traded immediately. Phoenix got picks over multiple future years to help stagger their ability to trade. And, Phoenix got 3 1sts, while LA is only getting 2 here.

I like the idea of Brooklyn trying to convert their late 1sts into a future 1st with some value based on the unknown. I just think we have to dial in the right picks to get LA truly interested?

The idea of the trade was precisely to be able to use them in several trades, although I think you're right, ideally, they would have to be spaced out over time... something like Knicks25+Knicks27 (top 10 prot) for Lakers 31 unprotected...

Still dont see why lakers would do it? What can they do with the picks really? A something like 25th pick this draft what can it really be traded for? Neither pick have really an upside so just dont see a point or whoever they trade with would prefer a top 10 over a 31st up.

Aldo means lakers would have to do their big aquisition on draftnight for the summer, is that realistic? Now, if it were something like a top 5 protected 27 and a top 5 protected 29, maybe? I just dont see a reason to dillute the assets and i still dont see the reason suns did

I think the Nets will use the picks. They have only two guys under 23 years old. Clowney and Whitehead both are 20.
They can use young cheap talent and try to get lucky.
