Keldon Johnson+B.Wesley best FRP 25(Spurs/Hawks) for the worst of the Nets(Houston/Knicks)+ Cam Johnson

I think the Nets will hold firm on 2 FRPs, because I'm not convinced they're willing to go through a prolonged rebuild. I think they're going to build cheap depth with their 5 picks this year and then go star hunting. Guys like Johnson and Claxton could be role players to have around a star or pieces they include in a deal for a star. The value they get back trading a Cam Johnson has to be worth pushing them closer to a full multi-year rebuild.

Thanks for your reply..after paying a little more to get their picks back, I thought that at least they would try to maximize two good Drafts like the one this summer and the one next summer.

I think this summer's draft was prioritized. Next summer's draft is insurance in case they can't land a star and the '25 rookies struggle. I think Marks is a strong believer in developing young guys by putting them in a winning environment with good vets. If the Nets land a top 3-4 pick, I think he'll strive to field a team that could at least compete for the playoffs rather than be in a full blown tank.

Nets have no choice but a prolonged rebuild. Who on this team could ever lead them deep in the playoffs?
The best player is best as a 6th man. The most exciting player can't play defense. And the best defensive player is below average offensively.
The team needs a makeover.

I can't see them wanting to draft 5 rookies and then think they are going to be competing for the playoffs. I see them drafting 1 or 2 players and then trying to move the other picks for young players being underutilized by their current team and maybe trading for future picks(kicking the can down the road to speak). Cam would probably be a part of a package with a pick or 2 for a promising young player or at least he should be.

They might not be willing to go through a prolonged rebuild, but IMO they should be. Trying to shortcut a rebuild usually just results in a mediocre team and more years of misery.
If they land a top 3 pick and one of Flagg/Harper/Bailey look like immediate impact players, then maybe you look to accelerate your timeline. But right now (IMO) they shouldn't be trying to build "around" a piece they don't even have yet.

Lakers could upgrade from Rui to Cam Johnson, and be persuaded to part with the 31 1st and Knetch if they can get DaRon Sharpe too. Rui + Knetch + 2031 1st makes sense for the Nets?

Sharpe is a free agent so this would need to be a S+T for Sharpe which hard caps the Lakers and makes this whole deal extremely complicated to a point of impossible.

Great point. Would make more sense to just take Sharpe out of the deal and try to sign him with TPMLE. Maybe that reduce the draft capital Lakers send, but I still like upgrading Rui to Cam Johnson.

Rui + minor filler + 2031 Unprotected 1st for Cam + Lowest 2025 1st
Now the problem is Cam isn't a good defender and neither is Luka. That's 2/5 of the starters on the roster as not good defenders. Add in Reaves and it's 3/5.

make it bigger and include Claxton..? Maxi/Vincent/Rui/Knecht/Lakers 31.. or is it too light..? this makes them better but it gets them fired from the FA 26.. personally I would prefer to keep the maximum salary space,

I'd be inclined to keep the cap space, or save that for a star level player. Lakers lose too much depth.

No way, sorry, Cam is a nice player but you're valuing at the absolute highest peak of his career and I wouldn't trade a pick that there's no telling how high it can be. A year from now this would not look good. We see this kind of reasoning all the time, last year people were trying to package Spurs 4 & 8 picks to jump up to 2 for Risacher, now the Spurs essentially got Castle and Fox for those picks (plus a little extra). Anxiety leads to costly mistakes.

The trade wouldn't happen until the draft and at that point you'd already know the results of the lottery. Obviously, if it ended up being Flagg then the Spurs say no.
Right now the Spurs have the 10th and 15th pick.

They’ve got the most cap space in the NBA for that very reason

Yes they do. But who wants to go there and play? I guess to collect a paycheck anyone would, but not if winning is the goal.
