Ja Morant

(I read this in a Spanish newspaper but the sources are American) According to Sport Illustrated, the possibility of putting Ja Morant on the market is already being discussed internally. The reasons for the franchise? There are doubts about his work ethic and his behavior off the court. The Grizzlies management is confident of maintaining a committed group, aspiring to add a new star to replace Morant. The article also quotes Howard Beck of the Ringer, who spoke with an NBA executive who suggested keeping an eye on Ja this summer.
What does the board think about the value, interested teams and offers we could see... It seems that the Grizzlies are looking for another star player to replace Ja (not that most of the value comes from the national teams, I understand)

Ja Morant is an interesting case because, while in theory just entering his prime, I would argue he is already within his prime years given the ware and tare his body takes and how much his game is predicated on athleticism.
Trading him is extremely difficult because who wants to swap stars? Maybe Sengun?

Yeah I'm not sure who is doing a star-for-star swap that Memphis would be interested in. Like I'm sure Atlanta would swap him for Trae but why would Memphis want that?

Per sports illustrated.
The Ringer's Howard Beck reported that he has spoken to an NBA executive who is not ruling out a Morant blockbuster in the offseason.
So some front office guy off a random team speculated Memphis might trade Ja, that is just not a credible rumor in my book. I am sure if you speak to enough ramdom front office people then every player in the league could be traded this offseason. Just grape vine content fishing. One guy makes a offhand remark and 20 places run with it makes it seem like it something more than content engagement. When there is no news you just create news is the era we live in. I don't think Ja is on the trade market, but as we have seen anyone can be traded.

I think the opposite... I have Trae as more valuable, starting with availability... Trae has played +-70 more games in the last 3 seasons, in addition to the fact that he is a much better playmaker (he makes his teammates better) and he should have a longer career, taking into account his style of play.

Trae Young for Ja Morant straight swap?

something like Ingram+this year's pick (if he falls in a 4/6 range).. The Grizzlies end up with something like... Ingram+Jakucionis or Edjecombe

If that happens, I can see something around Giannis, Wagner, Cade, or Haliburton.
I don’t expect any Western team getting a chance.

I’d buy low but I certainly wouldn’t give up any real value for a guy with Ja’s history.

No thanks for Toronto, dont think we are anywhere near contention to be trading a lotto pick for a star

Dont think any of those teams would entertain such a swap. Milwaukee will offer Dame, Magic offer picks based package (although suggs might be interesting), Detroit prefer Cade and Indy prefers Hali

As a Memphis fan, keep dreaming.
No shot any of those teams part with those guys for Ja.
Something like Sengun, sure. Maybe you can get Sheppard as well from Houston?

It’s interesting to see this stuff start to pop up RIGHT AFTER his father got ejected from a game by the refs.
Ja is insanely talented. The off court stuff? It’s worrisome.
To be honest, I wouldn’t assume that this is anything more than, “hey, Dallas moved Luka, what would we do if we felt like we HAD to love Ja” and kind of workshopping around that? Like, not a real consideration of trade.
At least, at this time, that’s what I think.

Ja is the better player when he's on the court, by a not-insignificant margin IMO. I fear that Trae is the kind of player who raises your floor but lowers your ceiling - you're never going to be terrible with him because he's an elite floor general, but his limitations (particularly scoring efficiency and defense) mean that you're never going to be a great team.

Doesn't Ja also fall into the category of raising the floor, but not the ceiling?
Ja has similar limitations as Trae, except Trae is an otherworldly playmaker.

Trae has led four consecutive top-eight offenses, even with that level of efficiency. I understand the defensive concerns, but I wouldn’t call it a low-ceiling team especially when we’ve seen the Hawks make a deep run before.
