A scorer for the Thunder..
Even if they end up winning the championship, I think OKC relies too much on SGA to score or at least it's something they could improve on... I mean someone who can create his own offense...
Ideally, retain their playmaking depth and keep the salary manageable.
as negotiable wages...
Topic..........5.1
K.Williams..7.1
Dieng..........6.6
could include (but I guess they would prefer to keep)
I.Joe...........12.3
A.Wiggins..9.6
Jalen W......6.5

I'd say Ant Simons might fit and I believe Advija (incredibly low salary for his performance and age) might be available for a significant price as OKC could cash in some of the many chips they have, even Sharpe for the right price could be had I think. Hard to know with Blazer mgmt straddling the full rebuild vs treadmill team pathway.

Derozan?
OKC would put whatever salaries they wanted together. Joe + Wiggins works and would be fine with me. Wiggins + Dieng + Kenrich?

I’m alone in wanting to see Topic in the NBA before making a move for a guard/offense?

Yeah, it's been discussed here before, but Portland should be selling hard to OKC. The Thunder have more than a war chest: they have a surplus of picks and the luxury of giving up some draft capital to supercharge the roster. They'd have to want what Portland is offering, of course, but Deni would be awesome there. Sharpe could break out there next to a guard with gravity and space to operate. Simons probably doesn't work due to matching salaries.

Avdija would be the guy I would want if I were Okc. Get some better size in the mix.

Re: A scorer for the Thunder..
IMO OKC needs another creator not a scorer, preferably someone with some size. They have a bunch of guys who could score more in theory if they had additional shot creation.

I want them to add a scorer before seeing him, but they don't have to include him to get that guy.
It's hard because they are one of the best offenses in the league, but whenever I watch them when SGA sits, it feels rough. That could be just very bad scouting by someone in me who isn't qualified. Just feels like with those assets and with an eventual payroll crunch coming I don't like leaving any potential holes right now.

I just think Topic will offer good playmaking even as a young second year player. And that’s what I feel like they neee more than just scoring.
They have shooters all over, so a decent creator will look good IMO. And I still think Topic will end up being very good..
I do think they should have been aggressive this year when there was two years before the cap crunch. But next season, I don’t expect it. One year before Chet and Halen get paid, just minor work around the current group imo.

Re: A scorer for the Thunder..
I was thinking of this before from the Raptors perspective but didn't post.
We have almost the opposite of you. Next year we will have Barnes, IQ, Barrett, Brandon Ingram and Dick. Who can all provide good offence can create their own shot and are decent passers. The problem is that we have one very good defender in Barnes and the rest are mid-defenders. We need another excellent defender who won't demand too many shots to
I was thinking of a trade centered on RJ Barrett and Lu Dort. Barrett is 22pts 6rb and 5 ass. A decent contract and is only 24 so he fits your timeline perfectly. He is a mid at best defender but tries, is not horrible and could definitely do better next to all the great defenders at OKC. There is also the SGA-Barrett olympic connection.
You might have to add something besides Lu Dort, but the makings of a deal between these two teams is really good.
Help me out here. What do you think?

I like the concept but I don't know enough about Barrett to opine intelligently. My gut reaction is that I'd rather keep Dort.
I will say that Dort is not untouchable, but it's probably a "more valuable to us than to you" situation. He's so good defensively - he makes All NBA caliber players completely disappear. As soon as we trade him, we'll wish we had him. On top of that he's shooting 42% from 3.
Given our current situation, I feel like we can (maybe should?) be picky about who we give up and bring in.

DeRozan would be sneaky good for him. DDR also opens up a starting spot for Keon. Win/Win

Several of the smarter Thunder fans I know have been saying the same thing. Everyone knows it's an issue, just it's hard to say whether it will matter if we keep forcing a turnover for every two made baskets against.
To the thread topic, I think Barrett could be interesting? Not sure. I haven't watched a lot of Raptors. I had a good grasp on options at the deadline but offseason will change things.

They paid Caruso and Hartenstein, they have SGA, Williams and Chet coming up. A lot of people are throwing in expensive players like OKC won’t have a problem surpassing the Suns current lux tax.

They're $10 mil short of the tax for next season currently with everybody under contract. 2026 is the year when things start getting dicey, since that's when Williams and Holmgren come due. I'm guessing they move/cut one of their expensive 2nd-tier players by that point.
You're correct, but it's not a concern YET.

OKC also has the assets to consolidate talent unlike PHX.

Not nba proven obviously and realistically no way we can trade up for him .
