Price for Timelord (to Milwaukee)?

He will be a 28 y/o 13,3 mil (15 mil for the apron teams) expiring C next season. He has played only 61 games the past three seasons and has only two seasons under his belt with 50+ games (2020 to 2022).

Portland views Clingan as their C of their future and will still have an expiring Ayton paid max money with no market. On top they have Reath locked for next season too and who knows who they draft.

Williams looks like the odd man out. Does Portland still hope they can get a (late) FRP for him? Does Portland settle for lesser/more minor assets and just cut ties?

I have him as an ideal Milwaukee target. Giannis is giving no signs of willingness to become a full time C. Brook is an ironman, but is only getting older and slower. Bucks have already shown a willingness for a lob threat with Sims. But they won’t spend a FRP for that.

Here is the proposed trade for Timelord..

- Connaughton (expiring filler, good teammate, already been there)
- Livingston and/or Smith (young player/s)
- 2031 and/or 2032 SRP (pick compensation)

Is any of that combination enough? Does Portland just hold on Williams if that’s the best offer? Is there a better offer?

PDX managment has pretty clearly stated they wont move RWIII for less than a FRP. If this was the cost, they would have moved him at the DL IMO.

Obviously there was no FRP offer in the deadline since he is still in Portland. What’s the case if the same happens in offseason?

I just don't see much motivation for POR to move him. He never plays, so it's not like he's even causing a log jam. Their roster is crowded as is so 2nd round picks don't do much for them. It seems improbable at this point, but if RWIII could ever stay healthy for an extended stretch, then maybe they could get that late 1st. Like I said unlikely, but what's the opportunity cost of waiting to see? Just a few 2nds on a crowded roster? Not a big deal, IMO.

Not interested in mediocre youth and distant SRP 5-6 years out.

That offer is nothing.

MKE has sent out a bunch of picks and their distant seconds might be decent gambles. A pair of distant seconds with top-40 potential are probably what he's worth (and I loved RobWill on the Celtics) at this point.

Plus Connaughton might have some marginal value for taking on a worse contract.

Though he has been largely unavailable, when he is he is a game changer. It takes a first or a quality young guy to get him imo.

Value has always been 2 to 3 seconds and dropping.

Price has been a first.

Since then, no one has been been willing to overpay.

(sorry OP for going off topic).. But something I like for both teams... looking from the outside, I get the impression that the Bucks' goal is to get younger and more athletic...
What do you think of Gafford for B. Portis..?? Who would have to add and what?...
For the Bucks, as stated, more youth and athleticism...
For the Mavs..a different archetype of big, one who can space the floor and shoot

2 2nds and playable expiring money feels fair. Problem for the Bucks is how distant those picks are, but Portland might actual prefer that figuring they should be a playoff team in those years and the picks would have more value then than now.

But this talk of a first continues to astound me. If you couldn't get one this year with 2 potential playoff runs, how are you getting one with just one? Makes no sense.

He’s played 20 games this year, even worse he’s only played 350 minutes. When he does play he’s not capable of giving you a lot of minutes.

I dont think he is worth a FRP. But the Portland FO has made it pretty clear that is what they think.

If he was available for SRP he would not be on the Blazers roster right now.

Portland has been babying him this year, he doesn't have any major injuries but we have kept him out of games for any reason possible.

I do agree the chance at getting a FRP for him is long past - if it was ever really an option - but we still aren't very desperate to get off his contract and love having him as a vet mentor so might just play out his contract, I wouldn't even mind resigning him if he is happy to be here.

Maybe that money is better spent elsewhere but honestly I have no idea what the teams current direction and goals are. They seem determined to be as good as possible and Portland with our history is not real sad about having more center depth than is strictly necessary on a night to night basis. There is kind of a general consensus among fans about what kind of moves rebuilding teams should do and for whatever reason Portland's front office doesn't seem to give much of a damn about that conventional wisdom.

Would be hard to turn that one down.

Albeit I would rather move Ayton to LAL.

But they wouldn't right? I mean as negative a reputation as Kleber has around here due to his health and his reticence to shoot, he's been a meaningful contributor to multiple contenders since Williams last was. I'm not sure the Lakers gain much from the big man swap much less giving up Knecht for the right to do so.

Let me be clear -- Williams in the distant past showed more impact than Kleber ever has. So if you are convinced that player still exists and you can get 60 games and a playoff run out of 4 years ago Robert Williams, then he's definitely more desirable than Kleber.

I just would bet on Maxi before I'd bet on Williams because we've seen him close games for a conference finalist and an NBA finalist in 2 of the past 3 years.

I would trade Williams for just about any draft pick, but Portland management will not. Most likely, he plays (read: sits) out his contract and walks.

I'd do Pat + Smith + 2 SRP & hopefully find someone else to route Pat to.

I mean obviously, Ayton is very expensive and not good at basketball.

If I were Portland I would move him for best second round picks offer I could get and neutral salary, which this offer might be.

I doubt any team will offer a first in the offseason or trade deadline . Would it be offered if I’m taking on longer salary and in combo with some other role player I have ? Possibly , but I won’t wait around for it .

Connaughton I will try reroute for cheaper salary or a latter second by himself .
