Jaylen Clark and Terrance Shannon Jr have been super impressive since entering the rotation. NAW may or may not be back next season, but he’s been so consistent for Minnesota this season that it’s hard to see him leaving.

That being said, to open some 2/3 minutes moving DDV may be the best option. Ideally they’d move him for either a pick or a guy on a similar cheap, cost controlled contract. An expiring may as well be a rental. They have the Pistons pick for this draft (which seems to be a late teens/early 20s pick) and the Jazz 2nd (which will be a very early 2nd) to sweeten any deals. Could use a center project too.

Always wanted him for ORL...they should have signed him post GSW.

ORL sends: Gary Harris & 2 srps...solid vet 3&D, doesn't make mistakes or dominate games - just sound depth guy, TO for $7.5 - could even be bought out if desired.

MIN sends: DDV...has 2 more years at $24.5m

ORL sends: Wendell Carter Jr. (next year at $10m, then bumps up to $18m for 2, then TO). Sturdy, heady big who could play next to Rudy as well as backup 5. Strong rebounder and very good positional defender - not a highlight reel rim-protector, but solid from perimeter to post. Admittedly has struggled from 3 this year, but historically solid...entire ORL team has 3pt% down, so seems situational ( not personal).

MIN can't aggregate until they clear some space...which, I guess happens when Naz opts out or MIN does something with Randle.

With Ivey back next season, Detroit could let Schroder go and replace him with DDV.

Fontecchio and Toronto 2nd for DDV?

Maybe Fontecchio will fit better in Minny than he's been doing under JB and he will go back to his last season's play and maybe DDV will fit better in Detroit.

DDV appears to have played excellent in Minnesota prior to his injury. Seems foolish to downgrade for a high 2nd when Minnesota already owns a high 2nd this year.

Given the DDV contract is well below market I don't see the Wolves taking any kind of deal where they downgrade their roster and only get a 2nd or multiple second in return.

Yeah 2nds aren’t going to cut it for DDV.

I think given that Bufkin is out the rest of the season and will be at a total of 320 career minutes in 2 years, he's more filler than actual value in a trade. He's going to be half way through his rookie deal and has barely played.

If Minnesota could get a worst of future 1st for him without taking back salary that seems like the way to go if they feel they can't afford him with new contracts due Naz/NAW. Feels like a guy who could return a 1st like that, but even it just 3 or 4 2nds I don't hate that for Minny either as they have a payroll crunch and those 2nds are enough to sweeten minor deals in teh future.

I'll be extremely surprised if Minnesota moves DDV. His contract is exceptional value and he fits perfectly with what the team needs. I fully expect him to be starting next to Ant for next season.

While guys like Clark and Shannon look promising, they fill a very different role than DDV. My guess is that Mike Conley's minutes will be significantly reduced next season and that McDaniels will split time between SF/PF, meaning there will be some wing minutes available.

So this is a late first or 2nds and a lot of breathing room for Minnesota.

Especially when the deal is actually (most likely?) NAW and whatever asset DDV returns. I don’t think you pay NAW if you’re keeping DDV? But maybe clearing Randle would take care of the tax issues for a year? Never really played with it.

Aaron Wiggins and a first? Naji Marshall and a first? Then have an additional pick to package with someone for a needed upgrade. e.g., what could Randle + 2 1sts return?

That seems like a poor use of assets for a team already back-filled with young players in Dillingham, Shannon Jr, Clark and Miller all added in the past 2 drafts.

They might not but itd be amongst the better offers in this thread. Probably easier to turn that pick into future assets

True. In the six games he was made a starter (small sample)

42.1 3P% on 9.5 3PA, 5.3 RPG, 4.7 APG, 1.5 SPG, 17.5 PPG with good defense.

The KAT trade wasn’t done for Randle, but to fix the books, by replacing KAT’s money with DDV’s cheap contract ($12 for 3 yrs), for Donte to be a back court partner for Ant.

I am not against exploring a DDV trade. MIN has a glut of guards. But Reggie is right - MIN isn’t downgrading for a 2nd.

If they were to just move him out for a pick...would they be in better position to keep Naz? This seems like a real priority...more so than keeping DDV, IMO.

If I had to rank the veteran Wolves players in terms of their likelihood of being on the team 2 years from now, I'd go with the following:

Ant
Naz
Jaden
DDV
Rudy
NAW
Julius
Mike

In better position sure but don't think its significantly changes the Naz equation, more than likely it would have a much greater impact on a NAW. That said as great as NAW has been I think most would agree DDVs shooting is a more important skill to keep than the defense of NAW especially since given Clark and TSJ skills are better suited to replace NAW not DDV.
