=====

Why for the Knicks: They add a solid bench big that allows them to not rely on Mitchell Robinson early in the season next year giving him more rest for down the stretch and the playoffs.

Why for the Trail Blazers: They should be looking to add assets and continue rebuilding around the young parts of their core. Given the Nick Richards to Suns deal, this seems about fair value for Reath.

Is he worse than Nick Richards? His numbers last year with more minutes were in the same ball park.

How many 2nds can I take out where you still do it? Is he that bad?

It isn’t even that. POR needs to move a C and POR should take a chance on a guy like Dadiet.

I’d do it without any..

Exactly.

Portland needs to move a C. Reath is obviously not in the long-term plans, so a swap for Dadiet is perfect.

I was really intrigued by Dadiet in the draft. He needs a little if work, but I think he has potential

Would Reath be valuable enough to play backup C for us when Mitchell Robinson is out?

He isn’t good enough to start for anyone, so yes?

Reath can play spot minutes, but so can probably 100 guys available in free agency for the minimum. If clearing a roster spot is essential for the Knicks, I can see this, but if the idea is they need to pay an asset (or three!) to get Reath, I am sorry to say you'll be disappointed by the investment. He's simply not a difference maker.

Why would the Knicks even consider this? We have Precious and Huk--no need at all for another bench big. (A starting center who is at least as good in shot-blocking and rebounding as the oft-injured Mitch would be great...but yeah, nobody seems to want to give us that at a price we can afford....)

And we like Pacome Dadiet. Why would we pay srps to give him up, only to take back somebody who likely wouldn't make our bench?

The idea of turning Pacome into a piece that can contribute right away while saving +/- $625,000 below the 2nd apron is appealing. I don't know if Reath is that guy.

Ideally - NY would flip Pacome for a pick in the 30's and draft a 4 year college player who can play right away and comes with a 4 year cost controlled deal - similar to the contract Kolek signed last summer.

I could see a rebuilding team, like Portland, preferring Pacome over the talent available in the 2nd rd.

I would do this w/o any SRP.

I would also do this as just Reath for SRP (I think he can be traded for no incoming salary since he is on a vet min deal).

He’s a serviceable 3rd stringer (unfortunately for him has been pushed to 4th string this season with Blazers big depth). No team should get him with plans to have him in the rotation regularly, but when called upon, he’ll do a reasonable job.

Reath just needs an opportunity - he’ll produce

He’s done it before, he can do it again. He can reproduce if you will.
